Hi,

We're about to be the proud parents of 2 new kittens (have 2 handsome older boys already) and I'm intrigued about one the kittens eye color. It really doesnt make a difference to how much he'll get loved though!

Bit of backgroud:

They're both 12 weeks old.
Mom is color point short hair with blue eyes and only she knows who the Dad is!

The little girl is pointed with blue eyes which, having had other pointed cats with very simillar coloring I expect to stay that way.

The little boy is black/dark brown and at the moment has blue eyes. How likely is it for them to change now? I've never seen a black cat with blue eyes but thought at around 3 months the eye color was meant to be pretty stable.

Incidentally -all the other siblings are pointed in some way and all have blue eyes. He's the rogue one!

Thanks

It has happend that a non-pointed and non-white cat shows up with blue eyes. Its very very rare however. I'd say too if he still has blue eyes at 3 months, they probably will stay that way
If you are ever interested in showing him in the household pet cat class, I'm sure you'd have a real winner

I owned a black/white odd eye female about 20 years ago. She was from the streets and it was obvious there was some siamese in her, as the blue eye was the deep siamese blue - not the paler blue in a lot of cats. The other eye wound up being green. She won tons of trophies/ribbons in her show career!

I'd hoped they might stay blue but it's not the end of the world if they don't.
We originally went to see the little girl that we're bringing home but my husband fell in love with the little black one too.

I'd never thought of showing any of my pets before - mainly as they aren't purebreeds. We'll see how much he likes the car but it might be fun - thanks for putting that idea in my head.

Thanks, they really are cuties. I'd post some pics that their foster Mom sent but I haven't worked out how to do that yet.

Incidentally, they're rescue cats and part of the adoption contract (and fee) includes having them "done" at between 4 and 6 months. I've actually been incredibly impressed with how thorough the rescue organisation have been.

I've had 2 pedigree entire female cats before and thought I'd let them have a litter but couldn't cope with the noise when they're in heat. Quick trip to the vets solved that.

Katie, just noticed that you're in NoVa too!
