Hi all, I clip my kittens nails, actually I did so for the first time last night and I'm wondering what is a good length of time between clippings? How many weeks?
Thanks

I usually just keep an eye on the nails and clip when I notice that they have become sharp again. They don't all grow at the same rate, but it's usually about once a week that I have to harass Mocha with the clippers. One indication is that she's "sticking" to the carpet, the other is the pain in my arm as she digs in for one reason or another (generally not on purpose...at 11 weeks old it's bound to happen once in a while.)

Young kitten's nails grow quite fast. I would clip as need, but check every few days. My 4-8 week olds got nail done twice a week sometimes. The front grows faster then the back.

As they get older, I check and clip about every 2 weeks or when I notice them being too long (which they rarely get as I keep on top of that).

I do notice they seem to want to use the scratching post more often if the nails are longer, so that might be a clue.

I just clip as needed. The funny thing I've found is that the nails don't all grow at the same rate. So I doubt I could keep a regular schedule anyway.
