My mom's friend has 6 kittens, 2 different litters. She decided to keep the 3 older ones, but the 9 week old ones she wants to get rid of. But she wants me and my mom to get rid of them while she's on a trip to New York, leaving tomorrow. My mom doesn't really care and just wants to take them to this one shelter that takes kittens for free, but it's also a 'kill' shelter. So I really want to get rid of them to people I know. I only have 10 days.
what should I do? my mom won't let them inside the house becuz they have fleas and stuff. the house they came from isn't exactly the best....Any of you have any suggestions of what I should to to get rid of them faster?
I'll have pics in a second. If you can't help with ideas to get rid of them, could you at least tell me some good names?

sorry! let me rephrase that!!!
"we want to find them good homes, not just take them to the shelter, where they might actually "be gotten rid of"

I would try to see if a local vet office would be willing to assist you in placing them. Vets know about people who have recently lost cats and are looking for a new companion.

Given that they have received no vet work....you really should try to get a vet involved.

I live in Des Moines, Iowa. And I told the vet about them and they said they would be happy to take them, but they all ready have 4 kittens (they only keep so many kittens at a time) but they said if they got good homes for the ones they have now, they would take these 3

oh, and just some more information, the 2 orange ones are males, and the tuxedo is a female

Well...Let's hope the vet can take them.

just called the vet, they can't take them, but they told us where this good no-kill shelter is at!
but I wanna try to find homes for them before we take them there.....I might know a few people in my neighborhood who might want one.....unless you guys or a friend of yours that lives here wants one

If the local no kill shelter will take them then that may be your best bet since they will fix and bring them UTD on their shots before putting them in furever homes. That can be quite and expense for 3 kittens.

Idea on names...

I was going to say that too. Unless you know the neighbors well enough that you can really enforce the fact that they need to get them spayed and neutered well before 6 months of age.

I would check to see if the no kill shelter is accepting anymore kittens. Most no kills fill up pretty fast and when they run out of space..they normally do not take in more.

yeah, but there's this one that just opened, so I'm guessing they have room

I like those names!!! those might just be they're names!

and the people I'm thinking of in my neighborhood, have at least one cat, so they would probably take good care of it
