Welcome to TCS....having kittens is stressful for a firsttime mother cat...so it is probably best to restict your kids access to her and her kittens so that she has some peace and quiet. If she is now accepting the kitten and taking care of it...I would consider it to be a stress reaction..but sometimes, mothers will try to remove a sick kitten from the rest of the litter.

Make sure you keep mom cat strictly indoors now until she has weaned her kittens and can be safely spayed as cats can become pregnant again as early as a week after giving birth.

the mother cat seems to be doing better with her babies now. she has bitten a couple of the kittens 2 times that i know of.and that seems to be when the kids sneek in and try to pet them. they have been told not to but kids dont always do what there told.lol.the runt is almost the size of the rest of the litter now,its hard to know which one he was now lol.the mother cat is inside until we get her fixed. that was the plan all along but the kids let her run outside and she is a very fast cat lol.one litter is all she is going to get to have.thanks for the help
