Does anybody know anything about giving cats blood transfusion to treat leukemia? I was told that Interferon was the only treatment and I didn't find that to be of any help.

A blood transfusion may help with acute symptoms but it will not cure the infection.

It would be best to have a serious talk with your vet about your kitty's health. Cats with FeLV can live healthy lives for several years, but once anemia develops often it's the point of no return and it's best to let your kitty go since he won't ever get better. Your vet can help you make this decision. You'll be in my thoughts.

Yes, I agree with what Semiferal said. A blood transfusion may help and it may not. It depends on your cat's current health and how severe the anemia is. A transfusion isn't a cure for anemia.

I would have a long and detailed discussion with your vet. Ask lots of questions. I found it helpful to contact the Cornell Feline Health Center http://www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/.

My FELV cat had very severe anemia and none of the treatments were successful. We did a blood transfusion and it helped him but only for a very short time.

You are in my thoughts. I know how painful it is to lose a cat to FELV.
