I'm a part-time student who will eventually decide a career choice of teaching or vet medicine. I'm currently a Pet Care specialist at Petsmart's Petshotel and I love it!

I'm a waitress. At 2 different jobs.

Put money in my pocket, and have a great time, and lost weight.
Cant lose there.

ALTHOUGH... I've been looking into being a zoo nutritionist. The person that determines what, when, how, and how much an animal in the zoo eats.
It's very interesting. And it sounds like a load of fun to me...And I even talked to one at the zoo. She loves it. College courses for that are a bit crappy though.

I am a customer service rep in a call center also. We handle student loans. I work the assist line to help other customer service reps when they need help with an account. I also handle the dreaded "supervisor calls" when we can't do what the customer wants us to do. You would not believe the people who whine and cry because they haven't paid their loan for a few months and now their credit is ruined and now they cannot buy a house or car.

I probably talked to YOU!
After my ovarian surgery last Fall, which was $22,000, I had to push everything out of the way to make room for all the medical stuff. Then I had complications and ruptured two discs from a misaligned pelvis after surgery. I had to call the student loan people and they were SO nice. I explained my predicament and offered to send a doctor's statement and copies of all the medical bills. They gave me a 6 month deferment for emergency circumstances. Yes, I had to pay a little interest, but it was worth it. I am now back on track and you guys were very nice to me! All it takes is some direct and honest conversations. I don't think CSRs want to make it ugly.

My husband calls me the pointy-haired boss (Dilbert fame). I am a manager of computer architects for a telecom company. Even though most people have dread for "managers", I think I'm a pretty good boss - as long as my folks get their work done, they can work as flexible hours as they need, work from home, leave early if they are having a bad day, etc. And actually, I don't so much manage the people as keep them out of trouble. Since I'm so good at letting my folks do what they need to do their job, I only have to catch them if they do something stupid and are about to be drawn and quartered.

You sound like an awesome boss!

Yeah, I got behind in my student loans because of thousands in medical bills, too. Especially since I was still in classes (and still am) and had no job, I didn't feel bad whining about it. I think credit, loan, banks, and all associated companies need to have a little more compassion, they are evil! Thus, my husband had the money and he chose where the money went. I couldn't pay my loans myself, and he decided that we should pay the hospital bills. I of course I went along with it because it is his money, and tried to explain the sitaution to the loan people, and they basically said tough luck.
No offense to whomever it was that did that!

Your student loans must NOT be with our company. We bend over backwards to help our students. There is another company whom shall remain nameless at this time that will not work with you. We do, and that is why almost everyone wants to bring their loan over to us.

I'm a full time university student. I am mostly studying American social history, but I also like non-Western history (especially African). I still have one year left as an undergrad then I'm off to grad school. (hopefully
)
I also work as a Research Assistant.

Eventually I want to be a historian and work / teach at a university.

I'm a carpenter. I specialize in suspended ceilings in a commercial enviorment. When I was young the ocupation seemed ok. I figured I was doing something I enjoyed. I took a shot at the buisiness just before the late 80's and went down in flames with a lot of others. I guess that was my chance.Today I'm a lot older and still work in the field, I work my fingers to they bleed. I'd give my right arm to be involved in a buisiness like selling specialty soaps out of a shop in a seaside resort town like Provincetown. But i'm sure that would never work. So it's up at 4:00 AM and out the door every day to end up on a construction site where I can keep an ear out for new skeletal "Pops" and watch the 22 year old kids fall into the same trap as I did. I warn them often and pull cigarettes from their mouths and stomp them out.

I'm a CSR at a big insurance company. It's a good job with decent pay and I work for a great company, but it's not what I want to do. My goal in life is to be a librarian. I can't wait to work with books all day long.

I'm a student... and I'm never leaving the Ivory Tower, ever.

I finished a degree in English major and Ancient, Medieval and Renaissance Studies minor but am not graduating, and now I'm going to a different school and getting a double major in Linguistics and English, plus maybe a Spanish minor or something.

And then I'm going to a PhD program.

And then I'm going to be a professor.

The only other jobs I like are all minimum wage, manual labor sorts of things.

I was in Project Management with the Aussie Government, but here in the US, I have only just got my work permit (took 7 months to process!!!), and am discovering I can't do project management over here because I don't have a degree, and you MUST have a degree for that sort of work over here! Being in middle management doing project management in the Australian Government apparently isn't good enough...

So I'm starting a Bachelor of Business externally, part time through an Australian university in a couple of weeks (which will take 6 years!), and have an interview for an Admin Assistant at a "wealth advisory" firm on Monday. At least this way I'll have a fairly low stress job while I'm trying to study as well!

It's going to be hard writing things the "Australian way" for exams, and the "American way" for work....
