With my parents that is...
Today my mom picked up Deacon for me because my husband and I had a roofing job to bid on. Her and my dad got home at the same time this afternoon to find 7 police cars at thier house. Apparently some guy robbed a pharmacy around the corner from the house. He stabbed some man and stole his car and abandoned it 2 blocks away. He ran through peoples yard and because my parents have an 8 foot privacy fence he decided to climb it and hide out in thier backyard. He changed his clothes in the shed that my dad and husband have been slowly building and put his old clothes in the trash. He apparently cut himself very badly when he climbed the fence and there was blood EVERYWHERE. He walked next door to the neighbors house and knocked on the door like nothing happened. Thier 16 yr old daughter opened the door and seen this guy bleeding everywhere and slammed it and deadbolted it... (Smart girl). Right about that time the police showed up and he took off running. They caught him withen 15 feet and slammed him into the side of my parents 28 foot camper and then onto the ground.
There was also evidence of him trying to break into my parents house but thought better and went next door.
My dad has security cameras all over his house (inside and out) and they caught IT ALL!

He was high on some sort of drug. They said they thought it was meth.
Here's the close call... it all happened exactly 7 minutes before my parents got home
and they have my 4 1/2 yr old with them.

Wow... talk about good timing!

Yeah it's scary to think about that if either my mom or dad was home 7 minutes earlier what might have happened?

I'm so glad your parents weren't home when this guy came by, that would have probably not ended so well. I'm so glad that they caught the idiot. I don't understand what is wrong with people anymore, I just don't.

It was just on the news. They showed my parents house and where the blood was on the fence.. It's kinda creepy because what if this guy gets out and blames my parents for this in some way?

What a shocker!!

BTW - who is cleaning up the blood left behind? I don't think anyone in your family should. Sounds like a job for HazMat people, IMO.

No one to my knowledge... The cops didn't say anything about it to my parents. Matter of fact, my dad found the cops bloody gloves in thier trash can

I saw some program a while ago about what happens to crime scenes when they're done with it. Basically, nothing! It's up tho the property owner to clean it up. We're talking blood and guts etc and it's just left there for someone else to deal with because the police departments simply don't have the time/money to worry about cleaning up. IMO, the should have crews of day labourers from prison to clean up crime scenes.

Anyways, I'm glad that your parents and son are all ok. That could've been so much worse - best not to dwell on the "what ifs" and just count your blessings.

On the west side of... of... somewhere.
There are companies around the country that do crime scene clean-ups.... that's ALL they do.

I don't know if there's one near you, but you could look into it.

And that is scary... and that teenager is one smart girl... I think most girls would have stood there and froze in place... not slam the door and deadbolt it!
