Cat has coughing fit when purring

She used to just wheez when she purred during one of her 'love attacks'. Now she starts having a coughing fit, like she can't catch her breath. She will then walk away from us, like it's too overwhelming for her and just stand there coughing and/or trying to catch her breath.

Other then that she is healthy. A little overweight, but who isn't

How old is your kitty?
Not to scare you but there are many possible reasons for this...

Because this is something new...
I would definitely have my vet check her.
You want to rule out asthma, heart and other serious health issues.

She needs to be checked out with asthma in mind - it usually requires a chest Xray to diagnose.
