I have had "Kitty" for about 10 years now...he is my "old guy". Twice within the last 3 months he had something strange happen to him. The first time I heard him crying as if he was hurt and when I got into the room he was almost on his side and it seemed his back leg was "stuck", he struggled and finally when I picked him up within a minute he was fine. I thought he fell off the dresser and jammed his leg, but the other day he was in the hallway and my husband heard him crying and when he went to him, the same thing was happening. He was struggling on his side again and crying out. My husband picked himup and comforted him and calmed him down. Again within a few minutes he was fine. No other signs have I seen since those 2 episodes. It seems to be his back leg only. Do you think it is because he is getting older? Has this happened to anyone's cat? My husband thinks it could be neurological? Any help would be appreciated. After these episodes he walks fine with no problems at all.
catlady5.....Thanks so much

There are a lot of things that it could be - and all of them require a vet's attention. Please take him in immediately.

Good luck, and please let us know how it goes.

I strongly agree with the other posters. It sounds like it could be a serious medical problem. He needs to see his vet asap.

Not making light of this, but it sounds like me when my shoulder has dislocated. Hurts like the dickens till it's put back in.
I hope your vet can find and correct whatever is causing him such misery.

We'll all be watching for updates.
Also.... we all love looking at pictures of everyones' furbabies.

the only thing i can think of is related to one of my dogs (RB). Every now and then (when she was older) she would start yelping like you had stepped on a paw and her hind legs would seems to seize up. The best the vet could figure was a muscle cramp or spasm (kind of like a charlie horse?) that would occur everynow and then and hurt for a few minutes and then fade.

Good luck with your kitty!

Be sure they check his heart. It sounds similar to symptoms of a blood clot, or saddle thrombosis.
