I have been going to the same place to get my oil change since 2002. Back in March, I had my oil changed and my inspection done. 2 weeks after that, Zack found oil in the driveway, so I took it back and they replaced the oil pan plug free of charge. Thinking that was it, I was happy. About 2 weeks later, the same thing happened. So, I took it back and they tried another plug....At the end of April, it was still leaking oil, and they put in an "oversized" plug. They also made the statement that someone that changed it the first time may have stripped it because "it was common in my car to have these problems"! Ok so: A. You should be more careful while changing my oil, or B. Don't lie to me because...when contacting my dealership I got this..."No, this is not common in your car...sounds like they stripped the bolt out". Therefore, my attorney has sent them a letter demanding a payment of a new oil pan. So, we'll see what happens.

Has anyone ever had this type of problem or similar situation? Just wondering

If it isn't too much more I would let the dealership change your oil from now on. Lee is very mechanically inclined and likes to do that stuff himself so he changes our oil when its needed. Maybe your husband could do the same.

Ya wanna hear about the repair guys who left the entire air filter housing off the old station wagon and I drove to Indy the next day? I managed to make it home just into the county north of me. Sunday night about 7PM and no cell phone at the time.

Got a tow home (we got home about 1AM), called the repair place at 8AM and "yes, they did notice the air filter housing was in the shop at closing time Saturday...". Why did they not call me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Anyway, this went into litigation, they wanted to replace old engine with a salvage, Mom insisted on a Jasper Rebuilt and they even screwed that installation up! The Jasper Co. had to install it themselves. The repair place still wanted to be paid!
They finally agreed with our lawyer and we got the car back at no cost. But by that time, we had already bought a new vehicle and could not afford to license and insure the old one, too.

Must admit - Karma intervened. The business caught fire and destroyed several vehicles in the shop and they had to replace them! Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!

I had that happened, but it was a newer oil place. I drove in, my car worked fine. I drove out, it wouldn't shift into second gear. Turned around talked with the manager and he said that its nothing to do with them, that I need a mechanic to look at it.

In the end it was some switching doo-hicky that needed more oil. I never went back to that oil change place again.

Zack did my oil change on Saturday because everyone else we called refused to do it. He may just do it for now on or the dealership...but that's $10 (Zack does it) compared to $40 (VW does it)!

DH changes my oil for me. And he puts the good stuff in my car, synthetic for European cars.

One of my friends got his radiator flushed at the dealership and they forgot to fill it up again. He didn't get too far before he realized what had happened.

Yup!! I've gone to same place for over 15 yrs. for oil changes & servicing-came home one day after a change -I live 40 miles from service station-perils of living in a rural area
went out in garage to go to work next am & it was a sea of oil-called the garage who ended up sending a tow truck up to get car-replaced oil plug & pan -apparently new mechanic had put plug on too tight & cracked the joint where it goes into pan -I was lucky wasn't charged a thing

I have never had that problem...but we did have a problem with our other car...we took it to the same place for an oil change every couple of months....well one time they said that they filled it with oil, but they forgot and it caused a problem with our car, since we had burned all the oil out...well we had them sign a statement that if any problem occurs because of this, they would be responsible. Let's just say the people we went to are a very well known big store.

nothing with my oil, but I got a Kia a few years ago when they first came out, and still had lots of bugs in them, and my car was making this funny noise and I kept taking it to the dealership and they couldn't find anything wrong, back and forth, back and forth, them telling me they couldn't hear any noise. Finally they replaced the whole catalytic converter, hmmm nothing wrong at all you say?????
