I was thinking back to the day in HS when my mom told me never to marry a person that was the youngest since I am the youngest of my siblings. I've read this too that generally personalities of the siblings are sort of determined by the order in which they were born.
For Example:

Oldest Childs : they're the responsible ones. They have a feeling of being the provider and taking care of people. Prefers to be right and a little more controlling. Decision makers

Middle Childs : Feels somewhat competitive for attention and will feel unloved more often then the other children. They often feel life is unfair.

Youngest Childs: expects others to make decisions and take responsibility. Will often behave like an only child.

Only Childs: Often enjoys center of attention and can feel incompetent compared to adults.

There's no place like home
I am a youngest and married #7 of 8 kids (I guess that's a middle). There is a lot of truth in the order of your birth in a family. Kevin Leman wrote a fascinating book called "The Birth Order Book" that talkss about the dynamics in a family. I highly recommend it.

I'm the oldest- four years older than my sis and 7 years than my bro. Hubby is the youngest. He has two older brothers that are 3 years older. No they aren't twins, both are half brothers from mom and dad. They grew up more like a "traditional" family because both brothers lived with them- one brother's mom was killed when he was young, the other brother's father has never been in the picture. Don't get me wrong, from what I understand it was pretty far from the brady bunch.
My mom has been a fan of this theory for a long time. She is the 2nd oldest of 8 and my dad is the oldest of two.. She says they have problems because they both want to be in charge. Also my aunt who is my mom's youngest sib married another youngest.. it didn't work out in the long run.

I'm the oldest and I think the description fits me! Patrick is an only child, but his parents also cared for two of his older cousins for a while when Patrick was younger. So he is sorta a mix of the only child and the youngest child...

My husband and I both are only children.

I've always thought that only children, as children, tend to relate better than adults. I don't disagree with the spoiled thing, though.
Although things changed a lot for me when I was 13, before then I was definitely spoiled, but my husband wasn't because he was poor growing up. I would consider both of us eccentric, but I don't think either of us have problems relating to adults, then or now.

i'm the youngest of two and he's the oldest of two... but we're the exact opposites of the above description. I fit the oldest description and he fits the youngest.

But then, neither of us ever claimed to be normal

According to my husband... the zoo
My husband and I are both the babies of our families.

Although, my brother is almost 10 years older than I am, so I can really be considered an only child (I was 7 or 8 when he moved out) as I was mostly raised alone.

The order of this is exactly opposite for my family. We all act like another oldest, middle, youngest child! Though both my brother and sister act like a youngest or only!!!

I am the middle child and Jason is the 2nd oldest out of 6 kids....

Even though I am the middle and Jason is the 2nd oldest....were are more mature than our siblings....my sister is 3 years older than me (25 years old) and I am more mature than she will probably ever be.....but Jason is the first one to get married out of his siblings and the first to have a career, house, responsibilities.....so he is the more mature and will probably always be more mature than the others.

I am the youngest and that decsription doesn't fit me at all. I am the responsible one, my sister is very...flighty. She was the wild one and rebellious.

Lee is the youngest and his sister is the same as mine. He has the personality of an oldest child.

That's the way I am. My brother & sister are both 10 & 8 years older then me, so I was pretty much alone growing up...although luckily for me they didn't move out of the house at 18.

B is similar too...he's the youngest of about 8 and his closest sister is 8 years older. He displays more of the youngest persons attitude then I do though (I'm always picking up his garbage for him).

I'm the oldest (and the descriptions of oldest childern have always fit me to a T. My husband is an only child, and sometimes I am witness to his "center of attention" complex!
