My nephew and his 2nd wife had a JOP wedding, too, but later had a renewal with a medieval theme - kinda like Godiva's!

You see, nephew promised wife a "fairy-tale" wedding.

Keep in mind this was 1992, hence the puffy sleeves

This was very high-tech back then
I am in my bathrobe, but in the mirror, I have my gown on

Check out those bridesmaids dresses

This one is my favorite

We had Snoopy and Belle on the top of our wedding cake
I think my niece's sleeves were even poofier! (She married in 1990.)

Exactly. That's what ours was... a fairytale wedding with a medieval/Renaissance flair.

Allll right....I went and turned my comp on just so I could scan these for this thread. I was in DH's study bc i went and pulled a back muscle again...needless to say these are taking my mind off a lot too!
We were just married 3 years on the 7th of last month. I love seeing everyone's pics! I'm gonna have to 'fix' these later. My scanner didn't do the best job! But here they are anyway. It made DH look really red! I mean he is a red-head, but his hands look like purple in some of these pics!
I wouldn't miss a chance to share my pics too! (I'm doing clickable thumbnails since these are coming out huge!)

First a pic of me!

Now DH and I! I carry this one in my wallet.

Our 'Multiracial' wedding party. The place we had our reception at had 3 weddings that day. They refered to them as The White Wedding (all white people), The Black Wedding (all black people, some people from my church went to that reception on accident!
), and then The Black and White Wedding, which was us! They should have called us The European, African, Chinese, Puerto Rican, Indian, Mexican Wedding, but I guess that is a bit long!

Lastly I have to share this one of my cake. It was very special because the lady who made it drove like 6 hours and came 'out of retirement' to do it. She was/is one of my mom's closest friends and she had made my mother's wedding cake back when we all lived in NY. It's featured on her web page too. Claire is an awesome cake designer! In case the pic doesn't show it, it was an octagon shape! (Had raspberry filling too!)

Oh my gosh Karen! I was in a wedding when I was like 15 and the girl let us pick out our own dresses so long as they were the same color. The other bridesmaid's dress looked a whole lot exactly like thoes!

Oh and my step-father would have stolen your topper if he saw it too!

Nice wedding pics, but of course I'm partial to the medieval one.

It looks like they got into it more than we did, we felt like we had to look somewhat normal or else we'd freak out his family.
We were told we had a "circus heathen wedding" by his mom, and his aunt.
It was at a Christian church (well, a liberal one), and while the pastor was kind enough to leave out some of the Christian themes we were uncomfortable with, it was still a Christian wedding. We did do a handfasting and we wrote our own vows.

What did they do?

.
Here is a pic from my cousin's renaissance wedding. She wore a different headpiece that was more like a yarmaluke. It was also a traditional jewish wedding. My wedding was interfaith with lots of different traditions. BTW the dude with glasses behind her is her husband.. He had a really cool outfit on. This was the best pic I could find with both of them. Hubby was the photagrapher and was a bit lit.

Over that was a white shirt and black tunic. Nephew wore the same but with off white leggings and gold tunic. We even made an outfit for the minister (my uncle) so he looked like a monk and at the last minute sewed a tunic and cowl for my baby cousin (6'8" tall!) that he wore over a pair of black sweatpants and boots.
The women wore navy and burgundy dresses and the bride wore ivory brocade.

I'm gonna have to see if anyone has pics they can email me!

I don't recall there being any religious references. They had a justice of the peace come for the ceremony. The bride is into Celtic lore but stays away from any organized religion. I think the vows were really traditional as I recall. They didn't do any special ceremonies so it was pretty short.
