Ok it's almost 11pm here and fireworks are STILL being shot off... We were done over an hour ago... We went to my parents house and did our thing, came home and my husband and my youngest son are already asleep because DH has to work tomorrow.. They can sleep through ANYTHING! Not me. Someone down the street is shooting something that sounds like a semi-automatic weapon
. We just moved here a little over 2 months ago and don't know all the neighbors so I'm scared to say anything to them. I don't want to sound like a party pooper but alot of people DO have to work tomorrow and it's a matter of respect. If it was the weekend I wouldn't mind. I keep hearing bottle rockets hit the roof of the house also from the kids behind us...these are the same kids I have had to chase out of my fenced yard and Jake has had his run in with them... Them I WILL say something to
if they keep aiming them at my house...Sorry I'm just a bit irritated

I have insomnia problems. So I understand the frustration, except in your case it's inconsiderate neighbors, I hope they chill so you can get some rest.

If it makes you feel any better, i have work tomorrow too
. My boyfriend is a cop around here and he said that so far tonight they've had over 620 phone calls about noise disturbances from fireworks....The thing is, they're illegal in the city limits too....but that doesn't stop people. So most of the cops are doing what they can about the noise....but there are only so many of them. It'll be over with in a few hours....until then, may i suggest earplugs??? hehe that's what i'll be using! try to get some rest.

Well fireworks are "supposedly" illegal here too
Didn't stop us.
But it's getting to be annoying. Jake is going nuts barking at every pop. I went out on the porch to smoke and read a little and took him out to potty. He wouldn't leave my side. It's starting to die down a little.. not much but a little... I don't here the sounds of a semi automatic anymore. I have the cats locked in the boys room so they don't try to run outside. I know people can be cruel with fireworks.. I would do the earplugs if I wasn't so worried about not hearing my son if he wakes up... Calling the police won't do any good.. they don't do much about anything around here... I'll just have to wait it out and dread 4:30am when it's time to get up and take DH to work....

It's about 10:30 here, and the neighbors have been shooting the really noisy fireworks for several hours.. you'd think that this wouldn't be a problem since we're in such a small town. Figures.

Yeah folks tend to get a bit excited on the 4th and I think they have temporary insanity maybe from inhaling the gunpowder fumes.........hmmm.

See what scares me is that I have had words about the teens behind me on several occasions. About 2 weeks ago they were walking in between houses and decided for whatever reason they wanted to see what I was cooking on the grill. Just as I walked around the corner I seen one of the boys lifting the lid on the grill.. I was like "what the %#&%# are you doing?" he got smart with me, closed it and walked away.
About 2 hours later they were walking through the yards and I asked them not to and so did my neighbor... they just cussed me out and kept going even after DH spoke up... later that night it was around midnight and everyone was in bed but me. Well Jake stood on the couch and started growling and then went to the front door. I opened it and he darted outside. When I looked out the door I seen these teens running through my fenced yard (meaning they climbed my fence which has a no tresspassing sign, private property and beware of dog signs all over it). Jake chased them over the fence and they started screaming "Get your %^#%$ dog away from me you crazy *@!$&!... I was LIVID and told them "Hey you were in MY yard and if he bites your sorry @^* then it's not MY fault!" and the oldest told me "I'll take care of him when you're not fing looking" I told him "I'll take that as a threat and we'll see"
Thank god we never let any of the animals outside unsupervised because I think the little brats would do something and I know they are shooting those damn bottle rockets this way on purpose... I wish my husband would say something but he usually lets me take care of it (Im a BIG mouth) until it gets serious. Then he'll step in and they do NOT want that!.... Sorry I tend to ramble

Yeah as bad as it sounds we don't think they are "good cops" anyways. LOTS of people in and out of their houses. They both walk back and forth to each other's houses late at night and I know they both work the day shift... just weird behaviour... Justice was riding his bike one day in the road and the one across the street just stared at him..he was out of uniform and leaning on his cruiser smokin a cigarette... Justice even said hi to him and he just stared...weird

I'd be freaked then. Cause bad cops means bad news...know what I mean.

Is the insanity still going on......cause I'd be ready to do some very loud yelling at these people.....cause it's just rude. It is a weeknight, yeah it's the 4th and all that, but alot of folks have to work tomorrow and it's just plain rude.....

Yeah it's pretty much stopped now... I'm gonna try to get Jake to go pee because I really don't want any warm surprises in the bed in the middle of the night

I second that! Memphis cops suck! And you can forget them responding to your call in a resonable amount of time if you have an emergency! However the Bartlett cops are wonderful! I know almost every one of them by name and they are all very kind and considerate of the people in their city- they are actually there because they WANT to make a difference- i think that's awesome! Colin's always wanted to be a cop- he took a huge pay cut to go from a fairly high ranking naval officer to a police officer- more than a 60% pay cut- so i know that he's not in it for the $ and he's doing it because he loves it- that makes me really happy and supportive of him
/ ....Bartlett is the police force Colin works for- it's right across the Memphis city limit. I live in memphis and Colin lives in Bartlett- but since his neighborhood is much safer, and 5 minutes away from work, i usually stay there during the week. It's just not safe in my neighborhood
Anyways, i hope you are able to get some rest tonight! Have a good one!
