Hi, my ten week old babies in the last couple of days have started attacking me when I clean their litter box out... The use their nails and try bitting anyone know what might be causing them to do this?

They could just be protecting their box. I would suggest that when you clean the box keep them out of the room, that way they dont see you doing that. I had a cat before who would stand next to the box and swat at me everytime i went to scoop. So i started putting her out of the room with the doors closed. She never knew the diffrence lol.

I agree...I would either keep the kitties in another room (put them in the bathroom...not like it takes too long to scoop the box
), or take the BOX into another room, behind a closed door, while you're scooping. Whichever is likely to cause them less stress.

Bijou just either stands there waiting for me to finish so he can use the litter or he'll jump in while I'm scooping and prepare to use the box. I have to just sit back and wait until he's finished.

I'd just close the door so they don't see what you are doing.

I think they are just playing - something new and intresting that moves. Just keep them out of the bathroom while you clean the box - problem solved

yeah I took it to another room today and cleaned it but it was funny cause while I was doing it I could here them whining on the other side of the door. Then this little black and white paw appears from under the door clawing at the floor, it was cute

Aww...that's so cute. I love it when they do that. Mine do it when I actually have the gall to close the bathroom door while I'm "going". I usually leave it open (I'm the only one they pester to let them in, mind you), but sometimes I prefer to "go" it alone, and BOY do they get upset! LOL!! Little brown mackerel tabby paws coming under the door, mewing (though they're two, they still manage to sound pitiful) under the door, it's really funny...but quite pitiful!!

P.S. Glad to hear it worked to just take it to another room. If you find them learning to chase you down and get in the room while you're trying to do this, maybe try it the other way around, and shut THEM in another room for the time you're doing it, instead. Not like it takes a person even fifteen minutes to scoop, ya know?
