I opened a can of Merrick Turducken a few minutes ago, and it looked and smelled weird. It looked like it was full of finely shredded green peppers or green beans, but green peppers and green beans aren't in the ingredient list. I opened another can for comparison, and it didn't look like that. I don't recall the other cans I've used looking like that either. It didn't smell like it was spoiled, but smelled like processed vegetables. I fed them the can that looked right and put a lid on the other can and put it in the fridge. I'm going to call Merrick (I assume they have a customer number? I haven't looked yet!) on Wednesday to see what they said, but I know some people on here use it so I thought I'd ask.

Snow peas are one of the ingredients, but they usually don't contain so many. It sounds like you got a can from either a poorly mixed batch or the end of the batch. I would definitely call them and see about getting a replacement.

Thanks for the number. I'll call them tomorrow since I imagine thier office would be closed today. I am considering not using it anymore after I run out of what I've bought, as they tend to leave quite a bit of it. They left about a quarter of a can from last night, and even the kitten didn't eat all of it. I'm going to keep an eye on which flavor I give them and see if maybe they just don't like the Turducken. I also bought Cowboy Cookout and Grammy's Pot Pie.

The only thing I've found lately is that the food is "juicier", i.e. more sauce. Bijou and Mika won't touch any flavours other than Granny's Pot Pie and Thanksgiving dinner. I have to say I'm not as "gung-ho" for Merrick's as I was initially. I like the ingredient list and the look and smell of their food, but I'm not sure they are taking the same care with their process as they used to. Unfortunately, I've tried all the better brands with our 2 kitties and Merrick's is the only one they'll eat.

I have found that they like Wellness the best. I know some people have issues with the garlic, but I don't think there's a large amount or enough to hurt them. And they love it, they lick every bit of food and every drop of gravy off the plate. I haven't seen them be this interested in food before. I bought the Merrick because the only store I know of that carries the canned Wellness was closed and I was out of cat food. This morning there was about a quarter can of food left on the plate and thier dry food was gone. They were choosing to eat the dry food over the canned, which I've never seen happen! We'll see what they think of the other flavors.

It will really depend on your cat. Bijou and Mika wouldn't touch the Wellness.
