OK now Kirra has been on the clavamox since monday, twice a day she takes .5ml i have noticed that its only 1-2 hours after taking the clavamox that she throws up. Now she didnt this morning and that was a first but this evening after her second dose 1 1/2 hours later she did. Any thoughts or suggestions?

OK added note, one of you was kind info to send me a PM very very shortly after i posted this, Man yawl are fast lol
. I called the emergancy vet with the info, that the med might be to high a dosage. They asked how much she weighed i told them what the vet had said, 1lb 5oz. She said that was twice the dosage and to drop it to .25mls but when she asked if she was due for another dose tonight i said no. She than told me not to give her anymore till i call my vet in the morning. She said he could have set that dosage on purpose but that the only reason she would see is that the infection warrented it. But i dont think so, he said it was a mild infection really. But she said that because it was double the amount for her weight that it would definatly upset her tummy like that.

I syringed her some pedialyte about 15 mins after she vomitted and she is feeling better, nudging me and purring. I know we all make errors so i dont fault my vet if that is the case. I am just very thankful for yawl cause i would never have guessed and would have just went on giving her that dose.

Loving my beautiful baby girl
We do truly have wonderful members, and we all care very much about you and Kirra!

Another thought for you to consider, an upset tummy can be a side effect of Clavamox. After clarifying the dosage with your Vet, you may want to try giving Kirra her medicine with a meal. This will sometimes help.

OK talked to vet this morning. They had her on that dose on purpose because she had diaherea so bad it was straight water. They said since her stool as firmed up that we can discontinue the clavamox all together. He said from the sounds of it that she has a problem with liquid meds. Even her strongid caused her to vomit, the first time to quickly but at least the second time she was able to hold it longer to keep the med in.

So no more clavamox lol she is happy, but will be happier once the eye oitment is done lol.

Curious... has your kitten been treated with for coccidia? It is the most common cause for watery poop in kittens and it is normally treated with Albon.

If the watery poop comes back I would ask your vet about it.

I will remember that. He said he figured her watery poop due to many factors, the worms, food change since we didnt know what brand she was on before, stress, and the virus.

So far today we have not seen anymore watery stool and she is eating and drinking well. You would never know she had been sick. Bouncing after her cat toys, kneeding my husband's face, and actually swating at the kids to tell them no instead of just laying there. I am so glad to see her back to normal. Now to just get her to the 2# mark so we can get her fixed lol.

Update on Kirra. Today was her first day with no eye oitment. I have not seen anymore yellow drainage which i am happy about. Her stool has firmed back up to normal and she is chowing down her food like its going out of style, where yesterday she was still only eating about half a serving. She is drinking her water bowl big time, not to much though lol the right amount, her little belly sticks out some after she eats but than goes away and hour later lol.

(edit: by the way to read what all happened to poor kirra after she was adopted refer here http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91189 )
she is acting well to, chasing her tail LOL, playing with all her toys, climbing the couch, just your typical 7 1/2 week old kitten hehe.

here she is at play, can you tell she was ever sick.

What a little cutie! I am glad she is perking up; it must have been hard for her and you to go through all that. Sounds like she is getting lots of loving care and that is always good medicine. Hope she continues to improve. Good luck!

She is adorable!!!
Sasha's (RIP) mummy was SiSi (RIP), a Tortie. Sasha had chronic eye infections as a kitten just like her. By age 1-2 years they had completely gone away. We never knew the cause....
