Here is about half the tribe, just being lazy and hanging out in the tupper-lair...

The rest of the gang have found lazy lounging places in assorted nooks and crannies elsewhere

Not a bad way to spend a day.

I was wondering the same thing kelly, I wonder how the openings got so perfect, I would have to use a chain saw
I have the whole room messed up big time

Awww, why thank you everybody...yes, the tupper-lair was my creation, though it wasn't entirely my idea. It started out as getting the idea from someone on another forum to make a covered, front/top entry litter box to keep my "shovelers" from throwing litter all over the bedroom.....

Then, Trace Tumblebrutus came to live here. Trace has 3 legs (we don't know his story, he was a stray that showed up at the shelter that way) Trace was having trouble with the cat trees, so I got some of the little plastic shelving units ($8.95 USD for a 4 shelf unit) I put these together in a 'stair-step' pattern so that Trace could jump from one to the other to get to the top. It was an instant hit. Well, one day I was looking at all that stuff and it was like, I have an idea. I was buying 2 of the Sterlite plastic totes per paypay, each one was $3.47 USD. The diamond openings I made by drawing the pattern on the tote with a Sharpie. I simply drew a 7 inch verticle line, then drew a 9 inch horizontal line across it to make an oblonged "X". Then, I connect the ends of the lines to make a diamond. The oval openings were just traced on with a Sharpie by using a Dixie oval platter as a template...

Then, I just cut out the designs using a hobby hotknife. I have to put a link to it instead of a picture, because at the moment, mine is on loan to my sister .

Hobby Hotknife, $4.99 USD

The floor to ceiling cat tree is one that my sister wanted to throw away, because in less that 6 months her cats had torn all the carpeting loose. Since I had sold my boat last summer, I just wrapped the cat tree in spare anchor rope...they don't seem to mind at all.

The entire arrangement that you see cost approximately $25 USD, and a little sketching and cutting.

Edit: Forgot to mention, the inside isn't fancy either. Each of the totes has stuff like old tee shirts, old towels, even a couple of old curtains to lay on. Easy to wash and the cats love them.
