OK i am gonna try this again seeing as the internet ate my last try.

My little Kirra was diagnosed on Friday with roundworm and a viral infection that is causing her eyes to weep. Now before I took her to the vet Friday she would play and eat and drink fine. Thursday night i knew it was a good thing i was taking her as i saw one of the roundworms in her stool. So we went to the vet and they put her on Clavamox for 10 days twice a day and Vetropolycin for her eyes as well as a does of Strongid (which she promptly threw up when we got home so i had to go get a second does and give it to her Saturday). And he requested that she go on a low fat diet to ease the vomiting and diarrhea, he gave wet food instead of dry because she had been nibbling at her dry and he thought she might do better with wet.

Well we get home and she semi licks the food, not really liking it and goes off to sleep the rest of the day, never used the box wouldn't drink, just slept. So Saturday when i got up , she had thrown up so i assume she had drunk or eaten. She was dehydrated, so we began watered down wet food in a syringe and water by itself in a syringe as well. She threw up one more time. But by last night she finally went to the bathroom, instead of straight water like she had been doing since Thursday night it was semi soft so i guess that was a good sign. She has not thrown up since yesterday evening and is eating on her own again now that i broke down and gave her her dry kitten chow back. She even will play with a shoe string , when before she wouldn't play with anything.

Does anyone else have experience with this kind of thing? Is it normal for them to act a little weird the first few days with stuff like this? It has been along time since i had a small one like this who was sick.

Thanks

Please make shoelace play supervised only. Should Kira shred and eat the shoelace you are really going to have a vet bill and a sick kitty.

Most of the medicines you list above are hard on any cat's system, let alone a kitty. You don't say how old she is, but she is evacuating roundworms it does take a toll on her system. She will be both vomiting and deficating worms for a few days. The worms have robbed her system of essential nutrients. I would get some pedialyte into this little girl and pretty quickly. Let her rest in a quiet dark room, don't play with her, let her regroup. Keep your eye on her hydration. Lightly scruff her neck while she is at rest, pinch it lightly, release. It should fold down in seconds if not get her to the VET immediately. Tented and pinched skin that stays in place shows dehydration, a kitten's worst enemy.

Sorry like i said net ate the origional post so i forgot some detail the second time around. The shoe lace is only supervised play, she is 7 1/2 weeks old, not vomiting worms, only found her in stool and since yesterday havent seen anymore full grown worms. Her skin is doing alot better. When we started the syringe feeding you could pinch it and it was 1-2 seconds before it came down as of today it is almost instantaious that it returns to normal. She doesnt want to be off alone in a dark quiet room. We have tried and instead listen to her howl loudly for us. She insists on being out in the main room where everyone is, even if its only to sleep.

I figured the worms and infection were taking a tole on her body but i wanted to be sure as i said its been a bit since we have had a little little one around. As of this post she is still eatting and drinking well and using her box, and of course found her way back into the livingroom with the family to sleep lol.

Side note did call the emergancy vet number yesterday and was told about the pedialyte if she stops drinking her water again.

Loving my beautiful baby girl
Thank you for taking such wonderful care of your little one. When Serenity found us, she was extremely sick with an upper respiratory and eye infection, and was infested with fleas, ear mites, round and tape worms. She, too, was treated with Clavamox for her infections and Strongid for the worms. Serenity also expelled the round worms by vomiting. She ended up having quite a nasty case and require three treatments to eliminate them. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone here, and we understand how difficult this can be to see your little baby ill. After treatment, Serenity was and still is the picture of health.

Please feel better soon, baby Kirra!

Just a small update. I went and got her some unflavored pedialyte and syringe fed her some. I also mixed the special diet wet food with her dry food which she had no problems eating that way. She is doing much better. She went and used the litter box again which i am thrilled for since she had gone 24 hours without using it. She still has diarrhea but i am sure thats normal with the worms, no worms seen in the stool but they said that the test showed only juveniles on the microscope so i probley wouldn't see em. She is up and about and even cleaning herself again. She still wants to be were we are but thats OK. She even managed to hold down the clavamox this morning, yesterday she would throw up about 2 hours after each dose.

So maybe this means we are getting better. No vomiting since around 5-6pm yesterday, diarrhea that is no longer straight semi colorless liquid, now its liquid-firm stool, and eating and drinking some on her own.

I hate when they are sick, its just has hard as when my kids are sick if not worse cause she cant vocalize like they can.
