Fast Breathing Kitten

I just got my egyptian mau kitten and he has been breathing very rapidly. I stay up north and he is from down south. I don't know if it is the change in weather or what. He sleeps all day and doesn't play much. What do you think this could be?

Unless there is some extreme of altitude involved, the difference in place shouldn't matter. Was he shipped, or did you go pick him up? Did you see the breeder's place and where they kept him?

My first advice is to go to a vet. This is a good idea with any new kitten, even one with absolutely no noticeable problems. Yours has a symptom which may be nothing and may be a sign of something.

A kitten should be playing so much that it starts to get on your nerves a little (though in a cute way).
