Thanks to everyone for their kind welcome.
I thought I should share some details about my 2 girls.
Bear is 15.5 years old and a tortoiseshell kitty who has survived numerous mishaps to reach her ripe old age. She has lived with us since she was about 6 weeks old and was a tiny bundle of fluff. She has a very bad habit of getting her front leg stuck through her collar and years ago managed to dislocate her leg in the process. Luckily she doesnt do it often now, but when she does she just sits there and looks at you, as if to say "mum, I've done it again!!". She has also survived an encounter with a brown snake which resulted in a late night dash to the all hours vet clinic and a nerve wracking wait to see if the anti venom would work. In the last couple of years she has been diagnosed with a thyroid problem for which she receives twice daily medication. She's a cranky old girl now, but we love her to bits.
Ernie is the latest addition to our family. We rescued her from the RSPCA at 10 weeks of age and she is a gorgeous grey kitty, with stripes on her tail and spots on her tummy. She takes great delight in sneaking up on Bear and ambushing her which results in 10 seconds of cat mayhem, then they go their seperate ways and ignore each other. Ernie is now 7 months old and when checked last week weighed a whopping 4.5kg, as she was eating all her food then finishing up Bears food as well. We are now limiting her to just kitten food and hopefully she will grow in to her weight. She is a rascal, into everything, climbs things, chews everything and loves to go a couple of rounds with our 1 year old, 22kg dog, Bert.
Will try and post some photos soon.
