It's pretty amusing that people are still giving wrong answers when the correct answers are posted before them! That made my day!

As a collector of repro carousel stuff for the last 30 years, I'm just about as expert as you can get without getting into actual restoration.

US made carousels from the turn of the century (steam) to the modern, all turn counter clockwise.
Elsewhere in the world it is clockwise.

There was really no wrong answer to that question depending on where you are from.
