What do you think of this food? I've been reading about it on www.petco.com and I like that it says it's lower in carbohydrates and I'm thinking of switching from Iams Multicat which is also lower in carbs than most dry foods to this Royal Canin Special 33 since Iams Multi-cat only comes in larger bags and I prefer smaller bags since I feed a lot of canned food. I just need a small bag of dry to supplement but what the website doesn't say is how low in carbs this food is. Iams Multi-cat I found out has 25% of calories coming from carbs Does anyone use this food or have any information on it? I know the cat site used to be sponsored by Royal Canin so I'm wondering if you can tell me more about this type of food.

I would say the 33 is better than Iams .... I havent used it as one is corn sensitive... I did have good luck a few years ago with the senior RC and overall find the food to be above ave .. If your worried about carbs EVO is a great food provided your cats tolerate it ...It seems to have more corn so it will have lots of carbs and lower end protein but has chn and chn meal which is a plus

Innova Evo is super high in calories and that's the reason I don't feed that food. My cat Spotty needs to lose weight. He's almost 16 pounds and my Rosie is 12 pounds but should be 10 and a half. Even the Royal Canin Special 33 has 477 calories per cup. The Iams multicat has around 360 calories per cup and with a nutrient analysis of 35% protein, 17% fat and only 25% of calories coming from carbs, less than other brands and considering most weight control foods have more carbs and this one actually has less carbs, this is the reason I'm feeding it, plus I like Iams. The Royal Canin I might consider feeding if the carbohydrate content is less than Iams multi-cat. But I don't know if it is.

My cats do best on Royal Canin, though I can't get it here and bring bags back whenever I can. So they have to put up with other brands in between and I can tell the difference after a week or two.

I decided that I'm sticking with the Iams multi-cat because I like that all the protein in the food is animal based and the nutrient analysis is just right for my cats. I have a vacuum sealer for all my people food stored in the freezer so I'll just vacuum seal and freeze half the food in the 8 pound bag and turn it into 2 small 4 pound bags of food and that will keep it fresh.

Please don't be dissappointed in me that I didn't choose Royal Canin. My beliefs about cat food are quite frequently the total opposite of what others believe. Just my choice. Thanks anyway for your replies.

I was wondering about Royal Canin Special 33 as well. I was just recently showing my somali and one of the somali breeders told me to feed my somali this food. She said it will help with shedding. She also recommended mixing a small amount of Innova Evo in with it. I have not bought this food yet as I have to make a special 30min trip to get it.
