Hi all,

My kittens are 5 weeks old today. 3 of the kittens eat both wet food and pellets, they love it, but there is one little boy that flat out refuses, he actually looks scared of the food, if he gets to close he back tracks very fast... He doesnt appear to be smaller or thinner than the others, still suckels on mummy, but im a little worried about him, is this normal, will he come around on his own? Ive tried dabbing a little food on his paw aswell as his lip but he just wont take....

Is it vital for him to be eating solids at this point?

Photos of my kitties, these are a bit old, will update soon

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

PS: the kittens started using the litter box about a wek ago with no help from their mother... Isnt the mother suppose to show them and lick them down there? My kittens must be super clever as they figured it out all by themselves.

Don't push him, he will come off mom when he is ready. It is possible he isn't part of the first mating, but was conceived later when another tomcat found the female.

The boy im referring to was second born, but I dont know if the mother was mated by more than one cat, she dissapeared for almost 24hours (resident cat chased her away) so there is that possibility.... he was alot slower to catch on then any of the other kittens, seem to sleep a lot more as well. But he is fine now, he is one big ball of energy.

Thank you for the advice Hissy, youre great.. I will leave him as you mentioned but will monitor him closely. Just wondering is there a point in which I should get worried.

PS: other kittens still suckle of mum aswell.
