The other day (and another post) I had a kitten returned..... I won't repeat that story but tonight I had someone call wanting the same kitten. She had some stuff to do and then was going to call me to come get him. I just had this feeling...... it wasn't good. She sounded nice on the phone but I took her phone number off my caller ID and looked up her address. It was in a less than desireable area in town in a dive apartment building. When she called back I told her a "little white lie"
and said I would call her tomorrow if things worked out. After what he went through last time I could not bare for him to go to a less than perfect home. Was I terribly wrong?

No, you should trust your instincts.

However, one of the first pair of kittens I ever fostered (and the only one to ever be homed - we adopted the rest) was homed in a bad part of town (the worst in Limerick), but the old lady who adopted him was carefully vetted first, and was committed to keeping him indoors. She remained in contact with the animal welfare to get him neutered and is apparently very fond of him (despite being one of the weirdest kittens ever), so these things can work out very well if you are careful.

I'm not suggesting that this is one of those situations, I think maybe you had that feeling for a reason. I don't know.

Thanks, I feel guilty but I just could not let him go..... the last home was the same situation. It was an apartment and he was scared I think of all the noise and traffic sounds..... As soon as he got back home to the country he was fine. I also think this particular kitten really needs other animals. He loves to play with our dog and other cats....Either that or he needs to go with his sister they are the only 2 left.

That may well be the case. If keep the 2 kits together is an option, I would certainly perfer itnyhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu (slayer added that btw). As I said, I would perfer it (her too I think - it was her bro that got homed
)

Cats in general do better with a buddy in most cases.

You did right by keeping him - 'cause that's what you probably really wanted to do
-- and -- besides he already was calling you "Mom".
, he's soooo cute!

I guess I just don't understand why you couldn't tell the person the truth - that the kitten was (I'm guessing here) ?? too traumatized to be adopted out to another home?
