I was just wondering when you are suppose to interduce kittens to the litter box? And when should you start them on soft food?

sure someone will come along and answer that really KNOWS what they are talking about. LOL

BUT with that said from what I have read on here I believe it is about 4 weeks for both. may take a bit for them to really pick up on it but can start around 3-4 weeks.

Are they with their mother? If so then put it out around 2 weeks and the mother will show them what to do.

If not, but it out right now as they have not one else to show them
and keep putting them in it so they know.

Soft food can be offered pretty young and they will switch between mom's milk and wet food. They won't be weaned until they are I think 6 weeks old or so, all kittens are a little different. But they should be with mom until 10-12 weeks if they are indeed with her now.

And about the food i was holding the runt which i am keeping along with 2 others.
Anyways back to what i was sayin i was holding the runt (Kylie) and my husband wanted to hold her and my husband just got done eatin and had food smell on his hands and she started licking his hands
When i pulled her away she started to meow at me lol but anyways thats why i wanted to know about the food part

I have the litter box in with the mom/kittens from day one. By the time they are 3-4 weeks old, they are imitating mom and using the box.

Soft foods are not introduced until about 5-6 weeks old and even then they are not really all that interested.

Ya don't expect them to become litterbox experts over night. And the momma may not do anything different. But they will soon see her and copy her in the box. So you shouldn't have to do anything.

cupcake....I have found the most effective way for kittens to learn about food and litter is to contain them in a room with mom...that way, they will get curious about what she does and learn by her example. Make sure mom's litterbox contains either clay or biodegradible litter so the kittens will not accidentally ingest it. I actually used a xerox box top as a "kitten litterbox" and placed it near my foster mom's litter box. I also would feed mom in the room and around the 5 week mark, noticed that her kittens would start to "eat" when mom was resting. Remember, mom is your best ally when it comes to the kittens learning all they need to learn.

I know this thread is a little old but my cousin's kitten learned to use the litter box at 6 weeks.
It's not hard to teach them how.

we have had kittens learn at 4 weeks. i normally leave the litter box in there with mum anyway so the kitten normally used it when they were ready.

the point is that YOU don't have to do anything, just leave them all with food and a litterbox nearby and they will learn it eventually from mom. Some cats are a little different though then others.
