We rescued three kittens...they are around 6-7 weeks. not feral but definitely not happy with humans (hissing, cowering, even some biting and attacking). the white one was the first to come around after a few days she loves being held. the black and white one came around a little bit and even though he still runs when you try to pick him up the hissing stopped.

Well then there is the black one. Even after almost 2 weeks the hissing didn't stop, he would still attack if you tried to pick him up. And when you did pick him up there would be biting and scratching.

So 2 days ago they needed to go to the vet. Unfortunately I could not drive them so my wife had to take the subway. She can tell you that the NYC subway is not a great place for a peaceful trip. So after about an hour ride there, then poking and prodding at the vet, then about an hour ride home...during which the black one peed and pooped all over himself...we were not expecting happy kitties when we got home. On top of that the black one needed to get his first bath because of how dirty he was. We expected hell.

Well guess what...now the black one doesn't run, lets us pick him up, doest hiss anymore and he even purrs while being held. Just yesterday he fell asleep on my chest. Can anyone explain this?!?!?

Right...it almost is like a switch and normally time and love can turn it on, but this time????? We were very worried it would set him back, not turning him into a lap cat literally overnight...goes to show you not to give up too soon. We were seriously questioning his potential for adoption.
