When I found Chester on the shelterâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s web page “his†name was Sophie. The first line of his description was “yes, a boy cat named Sophieâ€

Apparently his former people thought he was a she until he was neutered but never changed his name.

I know some times mistakes are made but......Chester has this habit of stretching where he will grab the rug with his front paws, lean back and stick his but up in the air.

The first time I saw him do this it was so obvious that he was a he
that I had to have the vet check to make sure the little fur “butt balls†were in fact empty.

well, i thought Cable was a boy when i found her...but in my defense, she was VERY teeny & probably dehydrated - covered with fleas, etc. she also has a dark patch that covers her openings... the rest of her underside is tannish/whitish except for the 'important' area! makes it very hard to see what she's got there!

For several days I thought Tiger was a girl. I thought about naming him Goldie
until his little thingy came out and I knew he was a boy.
No wonder the little guy cried all the time. He wasn't a girl!!

We always knew we had girls. My MIL though cracks me up. Dogs are "he" (like her dog Heidi-yes, female) and Cats are she (like her cat Charlie-yes, male). It didn't help any when my BIL named his female dog, Jake.

When we took Tink in, she was two weeks and abandoned by her mom. We were very new to cats so we guessed a bit based on pictures from a book (because there isn't the large bulge from the testicles yet) and thought she was a boy for about a day...lol.

The others were all old enough for us to know 100%.

Same with Zakk.. He is all black under there and its very dark. I still giggle when I think about how I kept touching under there, going and looking it up on the computer, and going back. I was starting to doubt myself b/c i was told he was a girl.

Adult cats are easy to tell. But, I have problems with kittens. Like right now, maybe Jonah is still too little to tell, I am not sure if he has a slit or a circle...LOL that was how I was told to tell.

lol, exactly! And there just a very slight bulge on either side if it's a boy...which can be confusing if you've never had a cat before.
Heck, it's probably confusing even if you HAVE had a cat before.

KC was a girl for the first couple of weeks we had him- er, her. Her name was Suzy Q! Isn't that cute?
We took her to the vet for a first checkup and she came out a he.

Sherm was a boy when we adopted him and will always be a playful, rambunctious little boy.

When I got Maxie, I thought that I was buying a male Ragdoll. The breeder said she was a male & I named her Maximus. After I brought her home & had a good look, I suspected that she was a female, but I figured... nah, the breeder must right.

Well, she was wrong, the vet confirmed that Maximus was a girl... so I changed the name to Maxie! The breeder was very shocked about the mistake & offered to trade her for a male. After having her for 2 days, there was no way that I was going to trade her in... I was in love with my Maxie Girl!

Well, I thought Jonah was a boy, but, I am beginning to think otherwise..........Atleast the name means to live and it might can be either or........

Okay,

Now i am really worried Roxie is a boy!

I have NO idea how they look different at this age!!

Would someone mind posting pictures of 7 week old kitten butts and tell me if they are a boy or a girl so I can check Roxie!

We had her at the vet, but that was for a cold, not to check her sex! lol

Thanks!

Okay,

just to be safe....

Here's Roxie in all her glory!

I appologize that they are not clearer, she didn't fancy having that end of her photographed very well and wouldn't hold still.

Is she a boy or a girl??

I think she is a girl, cause she is a calico, but then I was told she ISN"T a calico but a torbie. So, can only females be torbies??

When we got Suzy and Sam, it was my SIL who had contact with the woman who had the litter of kittens. She asked her to keep a boy and a girl for us. We never thought to look, and brought home Suzy and Samuel. A few days later we took them to the vet for checkup and shots and what not. The vet examined Suzy, while I played with Samuel. Then she turned Suzy over to her Daddy, and began to examine Samuel. She lifted the little tail, and said, "Um, Samuel? I don't think so," grabbed Sooz by the tail, turned them both around and said, "See? The same!" So, Samuel became Samantha.

According to my husband... the zoo
My husband got me a kitten once, the people that brought her over told us "she" was a girl and we took their word for it and didn't think anything about it.

We named "her" Chloe. It wasn't until my husband took "her" to the vet to get 'spayed' that we found out "she" was a "he"!!!
my husband was a little embarrassed

I was so hooked on the name Chloe - so we kept it and all of her life I continued to refer to her as "her" and "she" and "girl" etc.

Loving my beautiful baby girl
One of my ferals first came around as a little ginger and white kitty who I named Little Jenn (short for Ginger). Not so long after, when I was able to get closer with a nice view from behind the pretty girl, Little Jenn became Little Gem!
He's a cute little boy!
