Hi
I am new to this forum and am looking for help with two nine week old kittens. The little boy has a mild URI ( I have spoked to the vet and was told to take him in he he gets worse but sor far ist jsut a runny nose ) but the little girl is my main issue right now. She really wants to play with her brother and he ofcourse wants jsut sleep. As a result to all this she has become kinda mean to him, she will come up and start licking him and loving him but all of a suddon she basicly atacks him neack bitting and won't let go. Any advise you all can give is welcome. Thanks for reading and helping.

Wait so did you take him to the vet yet? I am sure she is going to get it if you haven't had him treated yet. You might want to get them both on some antibiotics. I don't know what to tell you. You could seperate them both which is prebably what I recommend doing. But you are of course going to make sure you play with them both to make up for the absence of each their siblings.

First of all, you need to get the little one to the vet as soon as you can. Kitties are very susceptible to URI and they can go downhill very quickly. While you're at the vet, be sure to ask for enough meds for the little girl, too. URI are VERY contagious and most likely you'll soon have 2 sick kitties on your hands. If he's already just wanting to sleep, he's already feeling really bad. That is definitely not normal kitty behavior.

When you see that she's getting ready to pounce on him or get near him, get an old towel and use it as a shield to divert her attention. Then, play with her. If that doesn't work, then you'll need to separate them, making sure they both have food, water, and a litterbox.

Hey Jen
Answer to your question no i didn't take him to the vet only because I don't know witch vet he has been to and his owners wishes. I am however takign him tommarow if he is not doing better. I do realize that the girl may get the illness as well but they have been together since birth and she is not showing sings and I am not sure it is even URI tha is just a guess it could possibly be an allergic reaction or stress of a new place and new person. I will take him tommarow for sure him he is not doing better. I would like to stress that he is eating, drinking and goign to the bathroom and become more attentive than he was yesterday.
I will try all you ideas and see how she does. Thanks a ton
P.S. If it makes you all feel better I have a cat of my own and have had one since I was 2. My current is a girl at the age of 19.

Regardless of the fact that they are buds, you should separate them. If one kitten is sick the other is bound to get it as well. You can put them in separate rooms and give each comfort items so that they don't miss each other much. Kittens go downhill quickly I hope you find a vet soon.

How's the little guy doing today? Did you get him to the vet?
