As far as her preference for wet food...that is fine...perhaps you can mix in a little dry food with the wet food. You should look for a brand that has meat as the first ingredient (chicken, lamb, beef) as opposed to a by-product or meal or any kind of grain. With wet food...you should also look for the ingredients.

I use clumping litter..but my 2 are 9 years old. You may find that switching the food that she eats will mean that she has a less smelly box.

I use Feline Pine. I cannot stand that chemical smell of Fresh Step. Feline Pine or the Pet Smart brand ExquisiCat I think its called, is just pine pellets. When the cat pees it turns to sawdust. You only need to scoop the poop and replace it all when it all turns to sawdust. They even make litterboxes which are like two in one. The top one has holes for the sawdust to fall out but not the whole pellets. So you scoop the poop and shake the top pan into the bottom one and dump the bottom one out then. Then put it back together and add more fresh pellets to the top box.

Anyways, Iams is okay, it is just a medium grade food, not great but not the worst either. Nutro, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul, Felidae, Innova, or anything really that doesn't contain by-products and has meat as at least the first 2 or 3 ingredients. Wet food is beast for kitty as it is closer to their natural diet, it helps prevent Urinary Tract Infections and crystals and cats just seem to enjoy it more

Welcome to TCS. We really hope you stick around and post some pictures up of your Isis.

Oh and has she been tested? Vaccinated? Now is also a good time to set up her spay appointment. It can be done at 2 lbs or 8 weeks of age. Some vets wait longer but it isn't necessary and she should be done before her first heat.

I would go with Innova over Eukanuba. Chicken Soup is good too. Also I wouldn't wait until 6 months to have her spayed. She may already go into heat by then. But as long as you are keeping her indoors and away from intact males. But it is definately best to do it before she goes into heat. Anyways, at least you are planning to have it done, just be careful until then. I don't like to wait that long. I am always afraid my cats will sneak out or break a screen to get out. We had one that did that and we found out when the vet was spaying her that she did get pregnant and she was only out for a half a day!

Hi there. If changing her food does not sort out her very smelly poo, I would suggest the vet does a fecal exam just in case there are any intestinal parasites. There are several that can cause this, and that are not removed by normal deworming. But hopefully the food will do it. good luck.

My kitten won't eat Iams dry food unless it's softened with water. I got a sample of Science Diet from the vet and those he likes dry. They are smaller pieces which I think might have been easier for him.

i am definatly going to pick up some Innova today on my way home from work! There is no way possible for her to come in contact with ANY cats period let alone intact males lol! I cant see my baby doing the nasty like that! its a funny thought though lol... a question...when can they go into heat? How young? what is the earliest theyc an get preg? and cats actually do bust down screens to get out?!!? I am a huge cat lover..but my specialty is ferrets so forgive my questions!
