Several of us were having our morning break outside when a couple of our co-workers pulled into the parking lot. They had the car radio turned up SO LOUD that all we could hear from where we were sitting was this EXTREMELY loud rattling and vibrating noise coming from every single part of the car, especially from the windows, and I'm surprised they didn't shatter. We couldn't hear ANY music at all, not even the bass, and usually you can at least hear that. Even people inside the building could hear all this rattling and started looking outside wondering what on earth could be going on??? BTW all of this was happening in a "HOSPITAL QUIET ZONE" of all places.

I didn't know this until I went back to college, and the 30 something professor told us he was hard of hearing, a result of playing in a rock band while in college. He said that the clubs turn the sound system up to a point just below the level of pain. This causes vibrations in our bones, actually, and also causes excitement. That's why kids get so stirred up at live concerts.
