Is it possible for me to be having hot flashes at 27 years old? I've experienced something 3 times now. I get really hot all of a sudden. It's kind of a weird feeling. It comes on suddenly and lasts for a minute or two. What could that be?

I am 27 yrs old and get them alot. I have ovarian cysts and they cause a chemical imbalance. (Don't mean to frighten you) Are you on the pill or anything? If not, maybe try getting on them to level out your horomones. It helped alot with me. But I let it go too long and am having to have my tubes tied next month and the cysts drained due (I know,
too much info) Maybe call your Gyno and set an appt to have it checked out. If not your local health Department also deals with this stuff and for free too

Really? I was recently told that I have polycystic ovaries. I'm not really sure what that means exactly. But maybe that's what's causing it. And yes, I am on the pill. It's a new one, called Yaz.

I'd call your GYN and let he or she know what is going on. Did this start right after you switched birth control pills? It could be a direct result from that.

It usually takes about 3 weeks to a month for your body to adjust to a new long-term medication. Especially birth control pills. Thats why they tell you to use protection the first month on starting the pill or switching.

Yes, the cysts could very well have something to do with it. I would definatly call my Gyno and have them evaluate your pills if this continues in the next few weeks or again, it could be the cysts.

EDIT: It's amazing what your body goes through after having a baby. I have had 2 boys and also had miscarriages. Horomones are a crazy thing. But then again, they are an excuse for MANY things we do... even if we do mean to do them

If I wake up in a bad mood, I just say "Leave me alone, I'm hormonal" and no one comes withen 10 feet of me for at least an hour! When the truth is, I'm just not a morning person AT ALL! I LOVE my sleep and value it just as much as the kitties and to be awaken to a screaming kid or a blaring alarm clock is bad news for EVERYONE in the house! I swear, my husband and kids walk around with a crucifix and holy water until about an hour after I'm awake!

Okay y'all are making me feel much better. First of all no one was believing me when I said that I thought I was having hot flashes. They said I was too young. So I didn't know what else it could be. I was beginning to think I was crazy. At least now I know that it could be hot flashes and that there could be a logical reason for it. But I will ask the doctor if it continues. Thanks so much everybody!

I am 21 years old and I have them!! It's horrible!! I think it is from my birth control or anti-despressants that I take.

Okay that might explain mine too?!?

I've been getting these hot flashes on and off for the past 2 years and thought I was going nuts....

I'm only 26 as mentioned in a previous thread.

May I ask what Birth control and antidepressant you take?

Can birth control cause the cysts? I've never heard that

Low blood sugar will also give you hot flashes and/or cold sweats, it most certainly wouldn't hurt to get checked out for diabetes or other related illnesses.

in a pile of open toed shoes!
I get them from time to time.... but I've noticed that it's usually when I'm having alot of anxiety or under alot of stress...my body temp raises, and I'm sleeping with the fan blowing right on me in January!
Hubby's smart-alec remark is something like "every other day your walking around here in a parka, and NOW all of a sudden your hot?!"
