My lovely day at the shore!

Saturday DH, 2 of our friends, and I went to the Seashore Park (a state park) and just had a really good time! So I thought I'd share some pics. They will be coming in 2 parts!

First we took a short walk through some woods:

Then the you step up on a wood boardwalk and there is woods on your left, and wetlands on your right.

Then back in the woods for a quick minute.

And then you come out here on the bay!

The park we went to is a long narrow strip of land. One side has the ocean on it and the other is part of one of the bays around here. So after we got here we went back across the road essentially to the ocean. Thoes pics will follow in just a minute!

Now for pics from the Ocean!

The beach where we went has 2 of these towers. They are WWII observation towers used to help protect the bays north and south of here. Not too long ago they did find a submarine sunk off the coast near here too! (not a US sub!) The close up pics here are from the nearest one. The other was surrounded by growth to deter 'artists.' If you look at the third pic, you can see a bird in one of the windows. The doors and lower window are sealed off with bricks now. But you can go inside one tower that is in another state park nearby. I'll be doing that soon I hope! These towers have always fasicnated me.

Behind the tower are tall sand dunes. Once you cross them you are on the beach!

Here is a shot of one of the towers from the beach. As you can see, the beach was pretty empty, it was fantastic that way!

After the beach we at dinner at Grotto's, they make the best pizza! And stoped at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory for some of my absolute favorite: rum truffles! I am enjoying one as I type this!

Those are really nice pictures. Now I wish I didn't live in the middle of the prairies, where the closest lake to me is a disgusting, algae-filled one.

Sometimes I wish I could put the beach in a bottle...I have one of thoes noise things that sounds like the ocean, but the real thing is different! It needs to make a breeze too! And a scent....goodness....I guess I'm not a mountain girl anymore!

Those are really beautiful pictures! I am so glad you had such a nice time. Anytime that your up for it I am willing to switch places with you. I would like to visit the mountains, and I am about 15 minutes from the beach
