Oh they leave their nesting area when the babies sleep, the mom just eats and uses her cat box also she just taking a break from her kittens. Don't worry, she is a good mom it sounds like it!

My Mother kitty did this, too. She would just go in and feed them and leave. She actually spent more time away from them than with them. That was 31/2 years ago. And all are fine.

It's fine that she spends time away from her kittens..but just keep an eye to ensure she doesn't get back outdoors again.

Regarding her not going to the litter as of yet, how long has it been since she went? A lot of times, a queen will evacuate their bladder and bowels before delivery so they don't need to go for a short while. But, if it has been days, then I would start to be a little concerned, especially if she ate the placentas. You normally see a lot of poop from a queen after ingesting those. What are you feeding her? Is she taking in enough water?

Hi

Ebony does exactly the same.

She goes in and feeds the kittens gives them a good wash and then comes back down to have a snooze and food etc

They are all perfectly happy and are always asleep when I peep in. If they call out she goes dashing up there.

I just think like all mums they enjoy some peace when they can get it.
