I am giving my kitty a liquid medication twice a day for the next two weeks, and I've barely gotten through the first day! The medicine winds up on my fingers, in his fur, on my clothes, on the floor, and sometimes in his mouth. Needless to say, Mr. Grey is quite unhappy during this entire ordeal

Any tricks of the trade??? (And I thought giving a cat a pill was tough!!!)

Thanks!
Summer

I don't really have a method, I just hold on tight, try to pry his mouth open, and stick the syringe in and squeeze fast! Unfortunately, his head thrashes around sooner than I can get all the medicine in his mouth. Perhaps that's my problem, I don't really have a "system". Got any suggestions? There must be an easier way!

When I had to give liquid meds to Trent (granted he was just a little guy at the time and pretty easy to hold on to
) the vet told us to put the dropper in from the side just behind his back teeth, do a couple drops and then make sure he swallowed. A little blow of air in the face works, or a light tap on the head - it startles them enough to make them swallow :tounge2: We learned the hard way not to squirt in too much at one time. Hubby thought it would go easier by just squirting the whole dropper in at once. Needless to say we ended up with medicine all over Trent and us.
It makes me laugh now, but what a mess!
