Hello

I am having a little trouble with my cat Misty Mae and finding where she is pooping, or if she is pooping at all.

She is a 10 month old siamese who was recently an outside cat (when we were home) and an inside cat when we were not. When we were not home, she was confined to the spare bedroom where all her toys, food and cat box are. I would clean her cat box out and never find any poop. Weird. Then I thought maybe she was holding it until we got home and she could go outside.

Two weeks ago she was outside and we were calling her because we were going to be leaving. She was very good about staying near home and would often stay in our yard. We never saw her. Long sad story short, the day we were looking for her a lady picked her up and took her to the pound because she was chasing birds and squirrles in her yard. The pound we got her from didnt micro-chip her properly so we didnt know she was at the pound for 7 days. Anyway, we got her back and she has now been converted into an inside cat. She doesnt like it that much but I dont want her to go missing again.

So now that she is always inside and only allowed to go into a few rooms in the house, I imagined i would find some poop in her cat box. None, none in 2 weeks. Not even a little. Our house doesnt smell like it, we have checked all the places she might have gone. We havent seen any or smelled any. She eats dry cat food like a pig and recently since she got back from the pound she has been on medication from being sick so I have been giving her wet cat food which i can hardly get out of the can before she eats it. She drinks water a lot (saw her this morning), so I dont know what it could be.

We called the vet and they said to confine her even more and maybe give her some mineral oil and see if that helps. If not, bring her in. Has this happened to anyone else? Suggestions?

I'm no expert, but it seems to me that if she actually hadn't pooped in 2 weeks she'd be feeling pretty sick and wouldn't be eating, so I'm thinking there must be some poop somewhere that you're not noticing. Does she have access to any closets or other hidden spots like that?

If she drinks a lot she might have diebeates. (hope I spelled it right.)

as for the poop is she going outside? Does she pee in her litter box.
I will take her straight to the vet right now not the next day.
she could have a problem.

a lot of prayers go to your baby.
Good luck at the vet.

She hasnt been herself totally since we got her back from the pound. But she has also had the upper respiratory infection as well.

It is possible that she could be pooping in private, i guess we will find out when she is confined to a room for a couple days. Wouldnt it smell by now though?

This is kind of a new thing. We got her in November and was an inside cat until March. She pooped normally then. Just since then I have seen a drop in poop activity. She does not go outside at all now.

Yeah, I am just as confused as you, because I would definitely think you'd be smelling it if she was doing it around the house. But maybe her poop just doesn't smell that much? My cats don't really have stinky poop, it's the pee that smells. And if she's doing it in a very hidden location, that might be containing the smell. Did the vet seem to think it was possible that she actually hadn't gone in two weeks?
