My male cat has a strange problem. He has some sort of discharge on his left rear paw. He is not in any pain, he is not limping. He is running and playing normally. It is not bleeding, but it has a god-awful smell! He is going to the vet this week. Just wondering, has anyone else experienced something like this before? If so, what was discovered (if anything). Thanks!

I agree a foul smell is a sign of a bad infection. Its only going to get worse. Its better that you take the cat to the vets today and treat it before you end up with major problems! And large vet bills.

Thanks all, he is going to the vet. I spoke with them already about his problem. He will be going in. As I mentioned, he is not experiencing any obvious problems and has no signs of being ill. Good appetite, very playful, no pain, no symptoms of anything wrong. He is an indoor cat, never been outside in his 3 yrs. Thanks for the concern, didn't mean to scare anyone!

He is fine. Very small abrasion on his paw. Very difficult to see. Given some ointment and sent home with us. He was not happy at having been put in the pet carrier, but he quickly got over it at meal time.

Hello I am new to this forum.

I live in Pakistan where  there are rarely any vets and majority a medical school drop out turned veterinarian with fake degrees.

I just lost another cat which i took in as 2 2 week old and adopted it and raised it by hand which became so lovely. Than it was time to get her spayed and ended up with 8 surgeries and docs refused to let us put her down. very long story of suffering, fake vets severe male practices.

She finally died  after her last emergency hernia surgery....

There is only one reputable vet so far but is very far away, very expensive and its difficult to get through her as she is often outside the country .

I own a silver , chinchilla doll face Persian which we got cheap and she came in a very bad condition. I took much care over her and she is now a big loving girls. Reminds me though on Paris Hilton a bit with her attitude. But she is truly a loving fur ball.

I notice one thing during the the last 2 weeks. Her black paws turned pink .

Is there any reason for this? Food? Sickness? Medicine change?

She had not that long ago a anal gland infection and reoccurring ear infections which i treated with , by the vet recommended ears drops and antibiotic.

I keep contacting different vets, who are happen to visited a veterinarian school , sarcastic here, but i just don't get any reply.

I began to may my own cat food as she used to vomit , had frequent loose stools with blood and always vomited after eating dry food. so i switched her after doing much research and put her on vitamins.

The vets kept telling me that its fur ball, than worms, than..... just to put her on antibiotics, other very expensive dry food for Persian cats with anti hair ball formula which she had already, which made her very sick between.

once i changed the diets and supplemented more she began to grow, much more active, relaxed and nice thick fluffy fur.

One has to remember its not america where i am . so,  much help i cant get here specially not from vets.

Any help in this regard. I try to take a picture on e day but cant manage it right  now.

She has no injury on her paws in any way.

She does not have any pain or so. i groom her like my baby and she is no problem in that regard at all.

Thank you all for advice and reply in advance

These type of infections should be treated immediately as they can be very harmful for cats.  And also make sure that it is completely healed after the treatment to ensure that it will not give any problem to your cat in future. These infections, if not completely cured can again affect your pet health and can have more painful outcome in the future. Keep your pet safe it is your responsibility.
