Hi everyone,
When you have time try and sign this petition which is trying to get 10 million signatures.
The Campaign:
Help us achieve global recognition that animals matter, that they can feel pain and can suffer and that we have a responsibility to put an end to cruelty around the world. We seek 10 million signatures to let the governments of the world know we are serious about achieving a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare at the United Nations.

I think this is quite an important step and would like to ask all on here who would like to to sign the petition.

Hmm, I am not going to sign this until I do some much needed extensive research and I feel all animal owners should do the same. I want to know how this group feels about exotic animal ownership as well. I feel this is the beginning of another PETA, API or some other "ban all owership of animals" AR (Animal Rights) group. I strongly agree that all animals must be treated humanly, but I do NOT want, nor do I need anyone or any laws, telling me what type of animal I can or can not own. I read all that I could about this campaign and feel very uncomfortable with it thus far.

I signed this petition. I believe that people do NOT own animals, but are placed with humans for companionship and care. I believe that is it wrong to cage animals that are not meant to be pets, especially those that should really be wild, but that's just MO!

I think if they are an international institution (unlike PETA, which is mostly in the Western world) then they would be more moderate.

They would never get any Chinese people to participate if they do the crap PETA does, but yet they got plenty of signatures from China......so they are reasonably moderate, in my opinion.

Well, I didn't intend to scare you, just to make everyone think before signing something that you really don't know much about. These AR groups hide behind many many lies. They will stop at nothing, to try and prevent people from owning any animals as pets. No AR group will tell me what I can or cant not own. I am not sure if this group has the same AR agenda or not, that is why I won't sign it until I learn more. Besides, I don't need any laws telling me how to care for my animals. I already know much more about this than any law maker ever will. You can tell by the looks in my cats eyes. They are happy and well cared for

John,

I hate to disagree with you, but we need more laws to ensure the safety and well being of animals. Animals are not "owned" and should not be considered property. We are caretakers and that is it. You may be a really great caretaker, but a lot of people out there are not.
