After almost two years of volunteering with our little TNR group (mostly socializing feral kittens, cleaning kennels and doing transport), I'm about to take on a small site in one local neighborhood on my own. This came about as the result of a connection made on TCS. So, for the first time, I'm going to be doing some trapping and working with the neighbors to get 10 cats (for now) fixed. I know this probably doesn't sound like a big deal to those of you who have been doing TNR for a while, but I'm feeling pretty nervous about the whole thing. I'll have the guidance and resources of my TNR group, but it would also mean a lot if I could get some vibes and prayers from you guys too. I'll keep you posted on how things go. Thanks so much!

Start with 10 cats is to prevent 20-30 more cats. Every small effort is huge. Good luck Eileen.

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of whether or not 10 cats is a large amount. The impact you will have on each of those precious kitties, in stopping the fights, preventing the illnesses, and ending the uncared for kittens...that is what is important!

You go, Eileen! Prayers that all goes smoothly, for the people and cats involved!

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the support. I think my biggest concern about this is whether I really have the objectivity to help the cats and people involved. As many of you know, I tend to get pretty emotional and way too attached to the kittens/cats we foster.
I keep saying that I need to cut back on my involvement, but then just get in deeper, like with this.

I met with a couple of the neighbors who are feeding the neighborhood cats at the site yesterday. They're both good, caring people who just want the breeding to stop. I was really concerned about how hard it would be to see any of the cats, knowing that even if they're tame, they have to go back to the site. I've been told by our coordinator that this has to be straight TNR. I just have to keep focussed on that. I only saw two of the cats yesterday, a male tuxedo, who was actually pretty friendly, and an older orange kitten, who was skittish, but brave up enough to come up on the porch for food in my presence.

This is a neighborhood where there hasn't been much TNR and there's such a need for it. Just hope I don't get in over my head!

Please keep those vibes coming! Thanks!

Elicon..just remember that the goal is to stabilize the colony and provide them with a better life outdoors while ensuring no more kittens.

Thanks, Katie! I just need to keep reminding myself of that.
