Hi,

I was looking for a bit of advice if possible please. We caught our little girl mating with a tom exactly 9 weeks ago today. She is a very small cat and is young (about 10 months old) for a while we saw no signs that she was pregnant, but in the last few weeks her nipples have become more prominant, shes a lot hungrier and she's been finding little corners to get into - nesting it seems. She hasn't really grown that much in size, she doesn't seem to be bulging, heavier yet and if anything bigger underneath than around the sides.

Anyway last night she was laying on the sofa and she kept making funny meowing noises - not normal ones and seemed very restless, she kept washing her bits and I noticed a very small amount of pinkish blood. This didn't last for long though and the rest of the evening she was fine, restful and sleeping.

Then today she is absolutely fine, Im not doubing whether or not she is actually pregnant and if she is really worried about the size the kittens would be, surely too small to survive.

If anyone could shed some light, on the signs that would be great.

Thanks.

It has lots of advice on caring for a pregnant cat as well as the signs to look for regarding whether she is pregnant.

Since you suspect she is pregnant, it is time to confine your cat indoors only and set her up with a nesting box in a quiet room that is preferably 2 doors away from the outside. You will need to switch her over to a high quality kitten food. As far as her being able to carry the kittens...I would consult with your vet.

Additionally, it will be very important to ensure that she is kept indoors only through the weaning of her kittens and until she can be safely spayed so that we can ensure that this is her only litter.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

If it was 9 weeks ago, then she is due yesterday and it could be anytime now.
I would say she is pregnant, and most likely going into labor now. However, if she was mated again at a later date (was she in heat again after you saw her being mated?) then those dates might be wrong.
