Thank you for clarifying that.

It could be as simple as baptising them to get into a better school, my mum teaches at a Catholic school that has some of the best grades for a state run (free- no tuition costs) school, but you have to be a baptised catholic to attend. There are all sorts of reason including tradition

no, around here catholic schools are only private (and therefore expensive) and I doubt my brother would send his kids to a private catholic school.

In my area that is also true with hospitals. The best hospticals are Catholic. Even though you don't have to be a Catholic to be treated by Catholic physicians it would be nice to be a Catholic in a Catholic hospital.

I never went to church when I was young and I didn't start going until I met my husband 5 years ago. He grew up in a very religious family...because his father is the deacon of our church with is a melkite greek catholic church, so my husband has always gone to church. Well....before we got married I started taking classes (with his dad might I add ) in order for me to be baptised....unlike a child who is baptised, I knew exactly what I was doing because I was 20.

The way we look at baptism is that its a holy sacrament of the church, and it is becoming like Christ. We "die" and are "reborn" with Christ in our heart. I will of course have our children baptised and they will also attend sunday school. My husband and I are actually sunday school teachers right now.
