I'm having a bbq but i dont know what to provide for food!

There wont be more than 10 people, but i dont know what to cook.
I know about half of them are vegetarian, so i only planned to make sausages and maybe Marinaded chicken skewers.
And a salad and my nutella cake!

Can i have some of your advice pwease!?
Like what can i marinade my chicken in? and what should i make for the vegetarians?

Youre all invited by the way

you could make for the vegetarians, vegetable skewers, like put peppers, onions, mushrooms and tomatoes on a skewer and bbq, but not too long cause the tomatoes get yucky fast
what about a big fruit salad too?

I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't eat red meat, so alot of my cooking is vegetarian (you get tired of chicken and fish real quick). The veggie kabobs are my absolute favorite. I'm also a big fan of veggie burgers. Also, you can grill tofu, just marinate it in exactly what you are marinating the chicken in, and it will come out great.

As soon as I read your post, I had a a massive craving for bratwurst. After a volksmarch, hot off the grill, soft bun, and Coke in a glass bottle. Man, I miss living in Germany.

If you can get corn on the cob....grill it!!! Throw it on the BBQ with the green leaves for about 20 minutes, then server.

I Love Grilled Corn on the Cob!

A really easy marinade is your favorite flavor of salad dressing.

You are not expected to provide special dishes for your guests who are vegetarian unless you have told them so or there are several people who you know are vegetarian coming. I am a complete vegetarian, and really I'd rather bring my own to a bbq than have someone guess at what I would eat. Same is true the other way, I am terrible at making things with meat in them because I don't eat it. For instance, if you are having an actual dinner bbq, would you actually expect the vegetarians there to eat nothing but vegetable skewers? Also, alot of the time stuff like that gets grabbed up by the meat eaters who don't realize that it's somebody else's whole dinner (because it's not, it's a side)... So I bring my own veggie burgers or hot dogs or whatever. What would be expected if you know there will be vegetarians coming is that you label things that have meat in them that aren't obvious, like a chip dip with bacon in it. Anyway.

My absolute favorite thing to make on a grill is potatoes. I slice them very very very thin, into little half-moon shapes, and then put them in a foil packet with olive oil and a bunch of herbs to cook. You can also make them open in an oven, but that takes forever. If you need alot, you might want to boil the potatoes first but not until they're mushy or they won't fry.

Fran, get yourself several packets of different flavors of Knorr "Salat Krönung". All you have to do is add water and oil. You can make all sorts of vegetable salads with cooked corn, green beans, zucchini, cauliflower, etc., to serve in addition to potato, noodle, tomato, or tossed salads. How about baked potatoes with various toppings (cheese, creme fraiche, fried onions)? Or deviled eggs (boil eggs, peel them, slice them in half, scoop out the yolks, and mix the latter with mayo, salt and pepper, put the yolk mixture back in the "depressions", and garnish with a bit of paprika)? Fresh vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, celery sticks, carrots) served with dips, e.g., Zaziki, or sour cream and onions?

Another vegetarian option if you don't want just skewers would be to make bean burgers. They're made more or less like regular burgers but with partially mushed-up beans instead of ground meat. I like them better than regular veggie burgers and they're much cheaper too.
if anyone wants recipes, I can post them.

I love veggie burgers and veggie dogs. Yummmy. That and the vegetable skewers would be great.

For any bbq, I would say potatoe salad, and a nice fruit salad and watermelon for dessert.

My Nana makes this amazing Kumara casserole.

All you need are a couple of Kumaras to cover a flatish dish, a can of pineapple and a can of coconut cream. DROOL!!

What are Kumara's???
Don't forget the potatoe chips (crisps). How about a watermelon to slice up (its pretty good when you inject vodka in it!!)
Baked beans for the vegetarian.
The potatoes on the grill are really good but I usually add thinly sliced onions and butter instead of olive oil).

That is how I cook potatoes on the grill, too! I never precook them, just make several packets if I want a lot of potatoes.

I'll be there, too Fran. Your bbq sounds delicious!
