It is because of the risk of hepatitis. I don't understand why you would lie in a situation like this. If you didn't understand why that made a difference, why didn't you just ask?
If it is a rule, there is obviously a reason behind it

I have 2 on my lower back... and they didn't hurt at all. OK, the higher one (think peeking out the top of my jeans) hurt a little when they got out to the sides, because I have more fat there...fatty tissue, and bone hurts worse, cause the skin isn't tight/firm, and is more stretchy so it felt kinda like someone was writing on me with a pen, and pushing hard. But not anything I couldn't handle... and in the middle it didn't hurt at all. Oh, that one is a diamond, fully faceted, with designs that go out to each side and down into a point... and it says "Diamond Girl" above it. I am a certified gemologist, and have a TON of jewelry, and my hubby has always played that song for me from day 1....

The other one is lower and is covered even in thong panties... (think that little triangle patch of fabric) it is Chinese for Precious Jewel/Gem, for the same reason...

In australia youre not allowed to donate blood after you get a tattoo, many people regret getting a tattoo with out further research being done.

The reason why is because of the ink of the tattoo, it circulates in your blood and suprisingly many people are allergic to it.

I cant donate blood anyway because ive lived in too many countries

Maybe its different in the USA though?

i think you have to wait 6 months to a year before you can donate blood in the US after you get a tattoo (if i remember right that is) after that they dont care.

I got mine done by this guy: koolfooltattoo.com
You can check out his website and maybe get some ideas. Mine's on there too, it's a calico cat and a chickadee....there's a lot of tats to page through, but if you're looking for a long time, maybe you'll find it!

I donate blood every year.... I think it's different in each state though, the rules in PA state you have to wait 12 months before you can donate blood. I work across the street from the Red Cross in Philly, they all know me there, I'm the one who passes out every year!

Nope, you can donate as soon as you want to after a piercing. ( I have a friend who got a piercing and donated that same week. They didn't even bring up piercings to her.... I would donate, but i have med. issues that keep me from donating blood.

I noticed that you live in TN, what part of TN? I'm from memphis. The best tattoo parlor by far in Memphis is Trilogy tattoos! They're awesome. They've inkied all of my friends ( i don't have a tattoo, just piercings- but I got them done at Trilogy too. ). They only use steril needles, and they're super thorough. They're all lisenced by the state too. Good luck! Here's their info.

From all the varying answers, I guess requirements/ wait periods vary from state to state, bank to bank.

Our local blood bank is Community Blood Center of the Ozarks and they do ask about piercings. I was a phlebotomist for them for a few summers, so I also had to do the pre-screens.

I've only ever gone to studios that keep current health certificates and an on premises autoclave, whether the state requires them or not.

I live in Nashville. How do you know if a tattoo place is regulated by the state?

Take a tour of the shop first. In fact I would call, and ask if you can take a tour. If they laugh at you or say anything other than yes then go to the next shop. It's your body.

Why does it matter? You've got to be kidding. There are rules for a reason. My aunt died from complications due to hepatitis she contracted via a blood transfusion. That's why it matters. Have you passed the hepatitis incubation period? Have you been tested? Have you had the hepatitis vaccine? It is ridiculously irresponsible of you to lie about something like that.

That's good that they ask there. At the memphis donation center, they didn't ask my friend when she donated. I'd feel more comfortable knowing if i recieved blood from a blood bank that they thoroughly screened every aspect of the donors....but in memphis, a lot of times they don't. I'm glad to hear in the Ozarks they do though
