I have decided that I want to get a tattoo on my lower back. This is going to be my first one. I just want something small though. Any one know of any good websites where I can get good ideas?

Thats where I got my first one too!

I didn't find anything on a website, I went to a few tattoo parlors and looked around at what they had. I got my zodiak sign on my back. Its something that will never change!

If you do a general search for Tattoo's - you should be able to find something decent. What are you thinking about getting?

Mine hurt really bad (not to scare you or anything) but since its right on your spine, it might hurt a little - depending on your pain tolerance!

I have several tatoos. Now that you've decided to get one find something that you like. Cut out a picture of it and post it somewhere where you look every day. Keep that picture there for over a month. If you don't get sick of it, then it will make a good tatoo. Also when you go to get it, make sure that you research the shop well. Ask to see the artist's book, and also ask if you can see a person who was tatooed by that person. It will give you a good idea of how that person's art comes out.

This is straight from the American Red Cross....
Tattoo
Wait 12 months after a tattoo if the tattoo was applied in a state that does not regulate tattoo facilities. This requirement is related to concerns about hepatitis. Learn more about hepatitis and blood donation.

Acceptable if the tattoo was applied by a state-regulated entity using sterile technique. Only a few states currently regulate tattoo facilities, so most donors with tattoos must wait 12 months after tattoo application before donating blood. You should discuss your particular situation with the health historian at the time of donation.

I beleive you have to wait 12 months after any piercing, as well, for the same reasons.

I dare to contradict. I got my first tat when I was 18. 6 Months later, we had a blood drive at school. As long as you were tattooed or pierced at a (insert your state here) Certified shop, you can donate and as long as 6 months has passed since you got your tattoo. I was required to bring the card of the place I was tattooed at and The Red Cross checked to see if the shop was accredited in IN. I am type O negative so I'm definately in high demand!

Here in Arknasas, they are not regulated. Its a standard question, Have you had any tatoos or piercings in the last 12 months? Yes is automatic DQ here.

Make sure you get something you want... not something someone else picks for you. I have 9 and a couple of them my husband doesn't care for but it's my choice, my body and he respects that! Do like what was suggested... print it out and stare at it for a month... I'm planing on getting one more and I'm done...............yeah, right

Getting one on your lower back CAN be painful but it's not as bad as your ankle or shoulder bone... after about 5 mins of the gun going, your endorphines kick in and the area feels real hot and then numb, you don't feel it... but remember this, when those endorphines DO kick in, breath in and out slowly or you'll black out for a minute!

I've got one tattoo that I had done by a neighbor of ours that was a tattoo artist...it's a purple cross lined in blue with a red heart in the middle of it, very simple and a symbol of my faith in God. It sometimes reminds me of my faith.

I want another one.....the one I have now is on my right upper shoulder.

I say do a google image search for tattoos of things you would like to have done.

A friend of ours had his 2-year-old make a hand print in ink and they took it to the artist who converted it into a tattoo. It is absolutely beautiful, right over his heart and her name is under it. This is probably more appropriate for a man, however. When I see creative tattoos like that, I am always so impressed.

A blood donation pre-screen is devised to rule out potential contamination/ disease before the procedure even begins. The fear with tats or piercings is infection from dirty needles. It can take months for someone to realize they have contracted hepatitis or HIV. Its exactly the same reason why they ask about your sexual partners, where you have lived before, travels, etc.

They are asking to prevent unnecessary trauma (the collection) to a person who's blood could be tainted somehow. Around here, they even give you an out after the collection. You either put a safe or unsafe barcode on your bag (its totally confidential) in case you were to embarrassed or ashamed to answer honestly in the pre-screen.
