Hello,

My cat began urinating on the floor not too long ago, and we took her to the vet. She was diagnosed with a Urinary Tract Infection, and she took some medicine, and was cleared of this infection. For some reason, my cat will not urinate in her litterbox at all. She will perform other bodily functions in her litterbox, but she insists on urinating on the floor. Why is this happening?

Any help is appreciated.

Mike

Sometimes with a UTI urination can become painful and she will associate the pain with the litter box, if that makes any sense? Cats are very associative creatures, as for ways to make her go back in the box, the only thing I can suggest in perhaps getting a new litter box and changing the type of litter, anything to stop reminding her of the old litter box, and the pain- good luck!

buy two new boxes and throw the other away. Also if she misses the new boxes get her to the vet. In some cats UTI can be re-occurring

Some cats also like to pee in one and poo in the other. You should always have 2 litterboxes for one cat. For multiple cats, have one litterbox per cat and one extra.

If she keeps missing the box, have her rechecked, they do reoccur. Ask the vet what you can do to prevent them from coming back. Feed more wet food and buy a Feliway plug in.

Alright, I'll try the suggestions above, and let you know how it turns out.

Thanks!
