Good Morning Gang!

I spent last night cleaning my house from top to bottom. My mom is coming tomorrow and my sister is coming to visit tonight for the weekend. And when I was living at home I had to do the dusting and she vacuumed, and my mom would always do the white glove test.... so I had to make sure it was sparkling!

I'm still doing the "no-rain" dance for tomorrow, we are supposed to go to the zoo.....

Marie.....what is the proper greeting for this holiday? Happy St-Jean-Baptiste day? Or is it something else? I'm curious to know about this special day.... I've read it on the calendar, but don't know anything about it!

Have a great day everyone!!!

Tracy, we are going to want pics of your party
I hope you have a great time.

Aaron hurt his hamstring in an apparent "spectacular" softball catch last night. I have been playing nurse.

I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon, but nothing else planned. Its supposed to rain all weekend. I think I'll be cleaning the inside of the house for a change instead of doing yard work.

Have a great day everyone!

I have a friend coming over for lunch tomorrow and then my sister is coming for dinner tomorrow night. Sunday will be a nothing day I hope.

I am shattered after getting up this morning at 5am to watch the Aussies play in the soccer.

stag and doe party? I have never heard of a stag & doe party. I mean I know what it is but just never heard it called that. Hope you have an amazing night!!

I have never heard of the St-Jean-Baptiste day either. Anyone beginning to wonder if I live in a secluded part of the world?

Happy St-Jean-Baptist Day is fine. Actually, saying it in French (Joyeuse St-Jean-Baptiste) would be more appropirate. The day is usually described as the "national holiday" for Quebec. Ok, Quebec isn't actually a nation, just a province of Canada, but since it's the only mainly French province in Canada, a lot of people here want to separate from Canada and create the actual Quebec nation. There has already been 2 referendums to that effect (in 1980 and 1995) but it never went through. The last one was close though.

So St-Jean-Baptiste usually involves outdoor concerts with French-Canadian music, fireworks and/or huge camp fires and LOTS of beer.

It's celebrated almost only by French speaking people in Quebec, especially separatists.

Then the following week is Canada day, which is celebrated by English-speaking people and French-speaking people who are not separatists.

I'm not really patriotic (neither towards Quebec or Canada) but I'll probably celebrate both, as long as there's something fun to do.

So in summary, Quebec is pretty complicated. Even our holidays are messed up.

Good Morning!!

Tracy, you must be so excited for your stag and doe
That will be so much fun!!

Today is Friday, and usually I have a super busy weekend ahead of me (which is good so I can stay away from my wayward ex-boyfriend)..I am going to the spa tomorrow for a massage..thanks god for that..

And then my mom is coming down from Ottawa, it is her 50th birthday, so I am going to hang out with her at my sisters for the weekend

Pretty exciting weekend for me!!

I hope you all have a good one too

Good Morning all!

Nothing too interesting going on around here... went over to our friends for supper last night, had pizza and a few beers, it was a good time!
Got to play with their 2 year old daughter - who is smart as can be, and adorable!! Its fun to spoil them and send them back home!

The weekend should be pretty blah, tonight we are going to a friends house in the country for a bon fire and a little party.... tomorrow we'll probly go riding, its supposed to be beautiful and then John has to work from 5 til 10, so I'm going to go out with my guys for a bit til he gets off work
Its always fun to go out with all guys, I always get free drinks!

Brandi, how exciting to shop for your unborn neice!! Old Navy always has GREAT deals on baby clothes and they are so cute!

Tracy, have fun at your Stag & Doe party, you better show us some pics!

Karen, Have fun @ the doctor, take care of Aaron, I hope his hamstring feels better soon!

I hope you all have a spectacular Friday and an even better weekend!

Marie thanks so much for the info! I'd probably celebrate both too! Any excuse to have a good time!
I remember when I was actually in Paris on the 4th of July they did this big fireworks display for the Americans over the Eiffel Tower...and I have to say, it was MORE beautiful than any fireworks I've seen here in the states. And we have GREAT fireworks in Philly.... but the Eiffel Tower lit up at night is just breathtaking...

Oh, and (in my horrible French accent
) Joyeuse St-Jean-Baptiste!
And Happy Canada Day too!!!

It is Friday already, where did this week go???

Nothing much going on, been feeling a bit depressed here lately, par for the course I suppose with all the stress going on of the past couple weeks.

But I'll get through it.

Kids are all situated already....and I'm thinking of what i'm going to grab to eat.

its always wierd for me to read the 'insert day here' threads as the day is almost ending on this side of the world.

Yes you are right, her smile first thing in the morning is brilliant but it would still be brilliant at 9am

awwwww but I cant be mad at her, she does sleep 6pm-6am so I cant complain

I have to tell DH that he has to celebrate the candian holiday as his ancestry is french canadian!!
Cooler but nice and sunny again but I need to start doing the rain dance soon.
Dh took the day off so we did errands most of the day. He want me to purchase a tandem axle trailer for my business but its hard to find the size we want. Went to take pics for a landscaping project, out to lunch and grocery shopping. Dropped some stuff off at the new consignment shoppe so I hope the stuff sells. Rented a couple of movies for tonite.
Have to work most of the day tomorrow-weeding and digging in clay soil-YUCK!!! But hey its a job!!
Slept fairly well last night-no peacock noise!!
