We got hit really hard yesterday afternoon starting about 4:30.......the rain was coming down in buckets.........we were watching out the window at work, and the yard was flooding, the streets were flooding, etc. I told my coworker Debi I was leaving before it got worse. She wanted to wait it out so she stayed. I had to walk through 4 inchs of water just to get to my car. I pulled out onto our road, and it of course was bumper to bumper traffic. They say never to drive through a big puddle because you don't know how deep it is, the current could sweep your car away, etc. That is all true but the line of traffic I was in was going, so I had to keep going with it. I went through some REALLY deep puddles and was holding my breath the whole time that my car wouldn't stall. What a mess it would have been and the traffic jam I would have caused it it had. We all inched along about 5 miles an hour. My normal 20 minute ride home took over an hour, but I made it. The rains can really be wicked at time. My basement is flooded.
Then the weather girl says we could get hit again today.........Gosh I hope not.

Ew, driving in rainstorms is no fun at all. I compare it to driving in a snow storm, its just as frazzling. I'm glad you made it home okay....Sorry that your basement flooded though, that is so annoying...hopefully your basement isn't finished so not much will be ruined.

I was gonna ask you how you fared Susie! It took me 2 hours to get home last night
Normally takes me about 50 minutes.... we tried to take Brecksville and parts of it were completely flooded! Right now Canal road is totally under water just north of Rockside
I cannot even begin to think of all the wate damage that has been done- sorry bout your basement! I hope we don't get it again too- everything is already water logged, it would be ten times worse today!

The storm system headed east & hit us during the night-sending Lukas under the covers -sounded like the rain was going to break thru the roof-we don't need any more rain here-I just had a whole new drainage system put in because our cellar has flooded repeatedly since January -sump pump runs all the time-we live on an aquafir & the water table is so high there is nowhere for the water to go-Sun is out now-but more rain is on the way later

Oh I hope not too Katie.......it's funny, when I finally got home last night, Jerry and I drove down through ValleyVeiw, on Canal, and parts of it were underwater, but you could still drive through it. This morning, on the news, they showed it all under water!! SCARY!!

Susie I am so glad you made it home ok! I HATE driving in rain like that! I grip the steering wheel so tight that my knuckles start to turn white! And my nerves get so bunched up I actually make myself physically sick while driving! That's really scary. We are supposed to get thunder showers all weekend... I'm praying for no rain tomorrow. My sisters, mom & I are taking all the kiddo's to the zoo.... "rain rain go away come again another day!"

Those were some really awesome storms we had. I loved it
However, I was off both days and did not have to drive in it. My 40-45 minute drive would have taken about 2 hours. Wednesday night, we had storms all night long. Everytime I woke up, there was lightning and thunder. The news said that some areas had up to 10 inches of rain. I would believe it with all the flooding there was. My drive last night looked like a river.

I was watching the Today Show this morning and they showed pictures of Huron County. I think they said that was the hardest hit area...

O-H-I-O!
My dad works at the PO in North Royalton and the post office ended up flooding and most of the cars in the parking lot where my dad usually parks and for some reason he didn't park there that day
But I haven't heard anything about what happened at the PO other than that. It took Trav about an hour to get home from work and it usually takes a half hour. I got home just when it started POURING, thankfully.
