If I only had the room...and more importantly the money. I say this big old orange tabby at the humane society today and I wished and wished I could take him in, I know he's been there for so long. The problem is my contract is ending in 2 weeks, and at that point I will barely have the money for me and my two. All i can do i pray that someone sees the sweet boy inside that guy, and all the other like Guinevere that need a little bit of love.

They are lovely kitties, and I am so glad they have such a wonderful home, you are a wonderful person for taking them on. I only take on oldies, and however emotionally and financially draining it may be, I carry on cos it is also so rewarding - sadly, due to the amount they cost me, I can only afford 2 permanent kitties, so I have to foster to get fulfil my kitty fix!!! I have such a soft spot for the oldies though, I want to bring them all home.

What lucky kitties, as always!

The one I found in my back yard last night looks like she could be related to your brat pack, hissy!

You are an inspiration to me.

This is what I and my bf hope to do when we have a place of our own. Slayer and Sláine were fosters at first before we adopted them - we reached our limit fast (its a small rented place).

Our landlord is good enough to pretend he doesn't know what's going on (he does - Molly and Bobby lived here before us and besides the flagant violation of the no pets rule, we try to be model tenents).

Good luck with all your beauties.

What beautiful cats. I wish I could take cats in too, but I only live in a 2 bdrm, so it's not possible unfortunatly.

Karens way of helping is great...

Guinevere got sick this weekend and went to the vet. They suspect she has FIP. She has a pouch on the lower side of her belly that is full of fluid. She was running a fever, but the vet believes that the fever was a result of our record high temps and not drinking enough water. She now has her own personal drinkwell fountain and she is resting upstairs. I am not testing her for FIp there really is no point. The last seminar I attended they covered FIP and they now know a bit more about it. The other cats can't catch it, but they can develop it if their immune system is compromised. They really don't know much about it, there isn't even a definitive test for it. Some people are scared of it and some vets use it as a diagnosis even if it might not be FIP.

It could also just be a fluid-sac as a result of past injuries, who knows. But she isn't going to be euthanized at this time in her life. Maybe later I will have to make that determination, but for now she stays put.

Aww, I do hope she doesn't have FIP, it isn't a pleasant illness. I do think you are right in not euthanizing yet, as long as she has a good quality of life. Fingers crossed she gets a decent amount of time with you, but if not, I know that the time she does have will be full of love and happiness, and she was very lucky that you took her on.

Bless her little heart. I totally agree with you in not doing the FIP labwork. When my Mattie died of FIP, the vet refused to check Garfield or Festus for the virus, stating of course they would test positive (for coronavirus), but not to worry about FIP in them.

I know she is in good hands with you and your vet. Prayers she recovers and heals quickly, so she can spend her "retirement" in your loving care.

Hissy, all I can say is that you are an absolutely amazing woman. I have so much respect for the things you do and all the knowledge you share with the rest of us. Guinevere's story has me crying my eyes out, not only for what has happened to her, but for her ability to forgive human kind for terrorizing her for the long part of her life. She's absolutely gorgeous, and it makes me so happy knowing she'll be safe and sound for the rest of her days. Thank you for such a touching story.

Best wishes to you and Guinevere, she deserves lots of time to bask in your love. I bet she knows already how lucky she is to have adopted you
