Someone just told me that sometimes they eat their babies. She won't eat her kittens will she???

Yes they do, but its rare - I've heard of cats doing this if they feel the kits are in danger. But I've NEVER had a cat do it or know any of my friend's cats do it.

I've handled the kits from the moment they are born with all my females and nothing bad ever happened. Just be sure mom is secure and in a comfortable place, out of a high traffic area - more secluded place

it's possible, but gauging by your other post, I wouldn't think that this would happen in your case... mother cats will usually kill their babies if there is something wrong with them, this happens when mama cats don't get the proper care and nutrition which compromises the kittens' health in most cases

Yes, it's true! (Sorry) We had a cat while I was growing up who did this with one of her litters. We think there was something wrong with the kittens because the ones she didn't eat ended up dying anyway.

So, do they, um, ingest them completely or just bite on them a bit? Just curious because I have seen guinea pigs who began to nibble on a still born.
