Don't beat yourself up about it. I think we all learn something new every day on this site.

Lots of good vibes for Petals!

I can't help you with that question. But we are all just guessing it's acne. It will be better to have the vet confirm it.

Oh I know Linda, and your right. I made an appt with the vet as soon as I realized something was wrong..........but since Sunday. It just scares me when anything is wrong with them She is definitely going today at 11:30.

I was able to get some pics of her, but they weren't the best. She's eating at least............

I just hope she lets the vet look at her without causing a huge fit! She won't let me look at it, none the less touch it!

Awww poor Petals
It looks like an open wound in the second picture am i right?.

Don't beat yourself up about it though Susie. Rosie and Sophie used to have plastic bowls until i read on the site about how they can cause acne so i changed them straight away to steel ones.

Yes, the one I think she keeps rubbing at and opening it up. Then she gets blood on her beautiful snowwhite neck....

I ran straight out after work and bought ceramic bowls for my babies......stupid plastic!!!
Why the heck do they make them????

Susie...you are a good kitty Mommy.

When you noticed Petals chin...
you posted a thread on the Health Forum and made an appointment with your vet immediately.
That is exactly what you should have done.

We live and learn.
I'll be watching for sweet Petals update.

Thanks Lei..........oh gosh, if my kitties blink too much, I"m on the phone to the vet.........
I should be so diligent about my own health! These kits mean the world to me and there's never a question in my mind that they go.........even if there's no extra money, which is most of the time, they still go. I leave work to go pick her up in an hour, and then her apt is at 11:45.

Garfield had kitty acne. I don't understand why one kitty gets it but not the others? But we changed bowls and he has been fine. I do still use plastic bowls for the water dishes, but I run them though the dishwasher often. I'm sure ceramic is safer, though. Whichever bowls you use, clean them with bleach or run them through the dishwasher often to keep the cooties away.

And don't blame yourself! Like you said, why do they sell so much plastic when it can be a problem?!?

I hope you get good news at the vet, and some antibiotics to help Petals clear up quickly!

for sweet Petals. And stop beating up on yourself, Sooz -- nobody can know everything -- but we all can learn, and modify our practices as necessary. Hope the vet visit goes well, and your girl is fine soon.

Oh Susie, don't cry!
Petals is going to be okay! The important thing is you got her to the vet. They will surely be able to help her, and her little chin will be on the mend in no time. Lots of <<<<<<<vibes>>>>>>>>>> for sweet Petals and hugs for Susie...

Susan, you did nothing wrong! I used plastic bowls for years...I had no idea! You would never do anything to intentionally harm your babies, we all know that, they know that! Petals will heal, you'll change your bowls, and all will be right before you know it!

Please do not beat yourself up about this!

It's too bad that you had to leave her there. Don't worry - it'll clear up, and now you know about plastic bowls, and can prevent it from developing again.
, Petals!

Ok, I have aminute here.......

I am so upset. he said it was the worst case of kitty acne he had ever seen. He told me he'd have to knock her out and then clean it really really well, give her an antibiotic shot, and then we'll have to continue that orally for 10 days.

I just started crying when they said they had to keep her overnight and as I was signing the release papers, the tears were falling on the paper.... it was so hard to leave her.

I know what you guys say is right.........I take as good of care of my kits as I know how to do, but I just felt so bad because she's so skittish in the first place and to hand your baby over breaks your heart, you know?

I will pick her up tomorrow at 4. He already called and said she is in recovery and doing fine. He got her all cleaned up and gave her two shots. She's resting comfortably in her cage and he told me she said to tell me she loved me and not to worry..........heck, I cried when he said that. I'm such a wuss when it comes to TTP&B. I can't wait to hold her again........

I stopped at home real quick to wash my face from crying so much before I left to come back to work, and Trixie looked at me like, "where's Sissy?" Your not leaving me here with the boyyyyyyyyys are you Mom?????? I hugged them all quickly, started crying again, and left.

The vet reaffirmed everything you guys said. Get rid of the plastic bowls. I can't believe I didn't know that........

Anyways, what would I do with you all of my friends here.....thanks for caring about us..............
to you all!

Get well soon Petals! I'm sure they will take good care of her.

I know how hard it is to leave them there. I was really emotional when Rocky went in with his asthma attack. I went over to his cage and gave him a big kiss... It's so much different than just leaving them for a speuter.
