could this be ear mites?

my dog Val has been itching in her ear alot latley and rubbing the side of her head on the carpet. could this be ear mites? is there any way i can tell?

Put a q-tip in the ear (carefully) and see what comes out. If there's brown stinky discharge, it could be mites or a yeast or bacterial infection, and needs to see a vet.

oh lord... its brown. does she have to be taken in immediatly? we are pretty broke right now. i'll ask my mom but i seriously doubt we can take her in right now. will the mites cause damage to her? can it spread to humans? is there anything i can do for her? oh lord now i'm panicing...

If you have a regular vet he will prescribe you ear mite meds without an office visit. At least mine will, so I guess I can just speak from experience.

Take her to the vet and get a single dose treatment of Milbemite!!! It works like a charm and starts killing them instantly, it's only one does so you don't have to worry about long- term treatment or anything. And best of all, it works very very well. I usually pay $18 where i live for Milbemite when one of my foster babies has ear mites. It may be a little more or a little less depending on your vet. Hope this helps!

ear mites are not very common in dogs at all, they are more often found in cats. Get your dog seen by a vet and they can figure out what the problem is.
